Methos looks around his domain. In less than a month, it's going to be someone else's domain.

He's not quite sure how he feels about that.

But if you're not the librarian any more we'll never see you unless we're in your classes and hey, I'm not giving up my part of the soul, Mister, so if this is a cunning plan to escape no go. And the new librarian might be awful and mean and wear blazers; and he'll not let us have coffee and then that shelf at the back will fall on me because the Library wouldn't like that.

Methos takes her shoulders and looks in her eyes because he's too British to give her a big hug, but awwwwwwwwwwwww. "If the new librarian is mean, don't forget I have a big shiny sword and I'm not afraid to use it. And if you get a fool who makes you wear blazers and doesn't let you have coffee, I'll be in here every day because I'll be laughing at the chaos that will make the new librarian's life hell. Understand?"

*looks up hopefully* I don' suppose we can be your TAs, as we've got to keep this place runnin' without you now, but don' think you're gettin' out of teachin' us.

Tweed! He might wear tweed and make us wear tweed an' I know I'm half-English, but I can't wear tweed. It gives me hives.

"Have you seen the people in this school? I don't know about Bristow, but I can't imagine Professor Jerusalem forcing anyone to wear tweed. Actually, I could, because it would probably make him laugh evilly, but I'm trying to be comforting, damnit."

"Well, I offered to teach two sections of history *and* keep my position as librarian. Unfortunately, the administration decided that keeping my sanity intact was a GOOD idea that I couldn't do both."

"I do! I do!" Methos says frantically. "I appreciate you a lot! And I didn't mean to leave! I just want to teach history!"

Janet barely reins in the urge to say 'as if living through it once already wasn't enough for you?'

"You are abandoning us, though," says Janet. "And this means you owe us big-time at Christmas."

Methos answers Zero, "I don't want to leave you!" Dear Gods, when did I become the slave of five teenage girls?

To Janet, he says, "I am *not* abandoning you, and don't think I didn't already know that I was on tap for huge presents at Christmas."

"You're throwing us a party, right?" asked Janet. "Just for the library staff? So we can exchange presents. We promise to spike the punch only a little bit. Also, you're coming in to visit next term."

"Yes, I'm throwing a party," Methos says, defeated. "We can throw it in Special Collections, if you like. And of *course* I'll be visiting next semester. You don't think I'm going to make my replacement's life easy, do you?"

*clearly relieved to have a subject change* Yes, I was wonderin' when we were goin' to exchange presents. I'm flyin' out on the twenty-first, I don' know about the rest of you.

*Zero turns to Methos.* Do you even have an actual library card?

"Maybe tomorrow?" asked Janet. "I'm not leaving--wait. I think I am going away for a while. What does the word 'vacation' mean again? I don't remember what those are like. Of course, a certain somebody--" Janet glared in the direction of the Anthropology room. "--needs to tell me what the plans are first. This is the last time I tell him to surprise me."

"He doesn't," said Janet. "Or at least if he does, he applied for it and processed it himself, which is a really funny thought."

Tomorrow works for me. I got most of my shoppin' done off-screen in Chicago.

*jabs a finger at Methos* You'd better not be another squallin' Chosen One!
