The Library Is Open (12/05/05)

Janet unlocks the library and flips on the lights.

Sitting on the Collections Desk is a package addressed to "Adam Pierson." The envelope is embossed with an unusual symbol, the meaning of which Janet didn't know. Except she did, because she steamed open the last envelope that came with that symbol on it. But she couldn't do that to this package without getting caught. And that was really starting to bug her.

She moved the package behind the Collections Desk and glared at it until the first library patron showed up.

Lee comes in to study and sees Janet. Pulling a little parcel of cookies out of his bag he comes to see her. "Hey Janet!"

Methos walks in and sees the cookies. "Oh, are those for me? Morning, Janet."

"Hello. I'm here to work on the indepedent study." And he keeps heading for the stacks.

Methos nods at Wes's retreating back. "Good to see a student dedicated to his work."

"I just figured he was running in fear," said Janet.

"Err... sure! You can have these..." and Lee pulls out another parcel of cookies.

Methos shakes his head. "No one gets irony at this school. Or am I thinking sarcasm? That's okay, I'm just yanking your chain."

Lee blinks. "No seriously, I have plenty of cookies, Professor."

"Can I have some?" Angela asks sweetly. "It's completely essential for, um, Christmas."

"Absoultely, Angela!" and he hands her a parcel of wrong-colored (yet delicious tasting!) Christmas cookies.

Parker *facepalms* at Lee, shaking her head.

"What?" Lee asks, confused.

"Never mind," Parker said. "Just marveling at the Boy Scout that is you, Adama. How was your weekend?"

"I baked cookies!" he says with a smile and pulls out some cookies for his favorite chick without a first name! "How was yours?"

Janet puts her cookies in her backpack. "Good morning," said Janet. "Package came in for you."

((OOC: Got distracted by another comm and RL. Sorry.))

Janet shrugged. "Just like any other weekend, really. I avoided schoolwork, slept late, and went ice skating."she asked. "How was yours?"


OOC: Fair warning: Whatever-the-heck happened in the library on Friday, Janet is still annoyed at Methos because he's either been not even saying hi or cranky with her since basically the start of last week, and then the whole blow-up happened and she had to run around kicking people out of the library. And I'm playing that Janet has only the vaguest idea of what happened on Friday. So Janet is being very, very polite to Methos and not much else.

"Non-traumatic," Methos says wryly. "So rather different from my week." He sighs and looks at the package in his hand. "This might be the perfect antidote to drama. I hope."

[[ooc: Hence Methos awkwardly asking after Janet's weekend. He's got a vague sense that he's been a prat, although he doesn't know if he has anything to apologize to Janet for, unlike Parker, who he lost his temper at.]]

"Hi, Lee!" says Janet, grinning at him. She shoves the book a little further behind the Collections Desk. "How's it going?"

"Great now that I've seen you this morning. Have some cookies!" Lee says cheerily.

"I'm always up for cookies," said Janet. "Thanks. So are you getting the idea about Christmas, or are you hopelessly confused?"

"Err... hopelessly confused," Lee says with a laugh.

[janet_fraiser]

"And no wonder," says Janet, smiling sympathetically at him. "The Christmas season is a month and a half of absolute insanity, and there are hundreds of years of traditions from uncountable cultures that have led to our current traditions." She pauses. "I maybe listen to Daniel too much. He'd probably be the best guy to explain Christmas to you and Daniel-mun will kill me for siccing you on him, I think, but it'll be fun."
