Janet unlocks the library and flips on the lights.

Sitting on the Collections Desk is a package addressed to "Adam Pierson." The envelope is embossed with an unusual symbol, the meaning of which Janet didn't know. Except she did, because she steamed open the last envelope that came with that symbol on it. But she couldn't do that to this package without getting caught. And that was really starting to bug her.

She moved the package behind the Collections Desk and glared at it until the first library patron showed up.

"For Gavin's art project. He's sketching half the girls in school, I think. Guns and leather, for my picture," shd said sardonically. "Although, it did look good (http://pics.livejournal.com/courier_gavin/pic/000cc6g2/g41), what I saw of it."

"Oh...hrm," and Lee's not sure what he thinks of this.

"He had Callisto pose already-- I saw his sketches on her, and I think he asked Chloe Sullivan?" Parker shrugged. "It was fun, I'm supposed to pose for him again later this week. Anyway, all of them will be in the art show before the end of term." She cocks her head. "Not a fan of art, Adama?"

"Oh, no, I love art -- my brother and Kara are artists so I kinda have to -- but... hrm..." and Lee's sure he shouldn't get into a discussion of the exploitation of women at this point in time.

"Buuuuuuut?" Parker cocks an eyebrow at him.

"Are you okay with being represented in such a fashion?" Lee asks, the pillar of honor.

Parker tilted her head, then grinned. "You're worried about my reputation? Adama, that is so sweet."

"I'm worried about you," he says, taken aback.

Parker's face grows dark for a second, then she shrugs. "You don't have to worry about me where Jake Gavin is concerned. He's interested in this for the sake of the picture, not cheap thrills. The picture's sexy, but not tacky." She's quiet for a minute, then says, "Thanks, though. I appreciate the concern. It's... nice."

Lee feels a bit awkward now. "Well, you're my friend and I care about you, you know? Don't want to see anything untoward happen to you."

She stares at him for a second, then breaks into a harsh laugh. "Untoward. God, yeah." Parker takes a deep breath. "Thanks, Adama."

"I'm putting my foot in my mouth, aren't I?" he asks, a little pale.

"It's not you, it's me," she mutters, looking away. "And you're not. I just--" She forced a smile. "Boyfriend issues. Forget it. You're a good guy for asking."

Lee nods and doesn't pursue. "Another cookie?" he asks.

"Please," Parker says gratefully.

Lee is happy to oblige. "So, any new and exciting plans?"

Eviscerating my boyfriend. "I'm supposed to be helping plan the after-semester party, and a Christmas party for Mr. Phale's bookshop in town. And working on my father to agree to a trip to New York over break. You? Are you going back to the Colonies, or staying here?"

Staying here, I think, as the plot of ABSOLUTE DOOM AND DESTRUCTION unfolds," he replies. "When's the after-semester party?"

"The week after finals, probably Friday the 16th," she said. Oh noes! DOOM AND DESTRUCTION, WOE! "It won't be dance, we don't have time to plan that, but maybe a pizza-and-ice-cream and movie party." She cocked her head. "Are you family going to visit, or did you get enough of them over Thanksgiving?"
