Professor Chaucer's Office Hours for Tuesday

The professor is sitting with his feet up on his desk, reading a book. If one looked closely at it, they might find that it's a copy of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

[Professor Chaucer likes coffee. How come no one ever brings him coffee?]

Geoff looks up at the squeeky sounds and sees the...large white ball that was chasing zombies around the school that infamous weekend. Of course, he's now perfectly aware that the ball is called 'Rover' and that it works security for the school. Still, it's a little disconcerting to see it squeezing through his office door.

"Um, hello? Can I help you with something?"

[If Professor Chaucer leaves the room for a moment, he'll return to find a steaming mug of coffee on his desk. The mug reads 'I majored in English, and all I got was this lousy coffee mug'. This is what someone apparently finds to be funny.]

Returning to his office after stepping out on a convenient errand, Geoff spots the mug of coffee on his desk. He's not really sure what to make of the text on the cup, but he's glad for the coffee and wonders who left it.

Elizabeth knocked on the door, balancing a couple of cups of coffee. She hopes the Professor's still around.

Geoff looks up and smiles. "Come in, Elizabeth! What can I do for you?" He eyes the coffee hopefully.

Elizabeth smiles back and hands one of the cups across to him.

"I just had a couple of things I wanted to check," she says.

He accepts the coffee with a grin. "Have a seat. What things would you like to check about?"

Placing her bag on the floor, she sits down. "First, just that it's still okay that I leave half an hour early to get to bio?" she asks. "Obviously it was okay before classes started, but I wanted to check that my work was up to par, or if there's anything else I should be doing."

"It's no problem at all, Elizabeth. Your work in class is excellent, and your attendence record is spotless. I see no problem in your continuing to leave early."

"Thank you, sir. I also wanted to ask about the end of term projects. Would an essay on Atlantis from Plato's Timaeus and Critias be acceptable?"

"Absolutely! I'm looking forward to hearing it, in fact. I've enjoyed having you in my class, Elizabeth. I hope you'll consider signing up next semester -- the first couple of assigned readings will be familiar to you, but the rest of the term will be covering completely new material."

Elizabeth smiled. "Thank you, Professor, I appreciate that. I certainly hope to continue next semester - I'd presume that the readings will be the later works listed on your syllabus?"

Geoff nods. "For the most part, yes. I'll be picking up a couple of the early ones, as an introduction for the students who weren't in class this term. Anyone who has taken this class, however, will be allowed to choose from a substitute reading list."

Elizabeth smiles. "I do admit to prefering a lot of the later literature," she says. "To Kill a Mockingbird... most of the Russian greats. I'll certainly be taking it, providing it doesn't clash with, well, speech I think will likely be the only class that would take priority."

Grinning, he says, "I'm pretty good friends with the speech professor. I'll make sure our classes don't meet at the same time."

Elizabeth grins back. "I'd heard something to that effect," she says. "That would be great though. CJ takes presedence over just about everything."

Geoff laughs. "She does indeed. I don't know when the schedule for next term will be posted, but as soon as it is I'll be sure to bring it to the attention of the class."
