Elizabeth grins. "That's the plan at the moment, and I don't see it changing anytime soon," she says.

"Good for you! It's not a usual profession for women where I come from, but that's not the women's fault, I don't think," he says, laughing. "I suspect you'll do well in it, Elizabeth. You're well spoken and you have a quiet strength to your personality. I wish you luck."

Elizabeth smiles warmly at him. "Thank you, Professor," she replies. "There's still a shocking lack of women in politics, but hopefully by the time I've finished university, all that will have changed."

"I hope so. I've had a couple of experiences in my life that I suspect would have gone differently if it had been the women in charge of things instead of the men." He grins and takes a drink of the coffee.

"I'll expect to see your name on my registration list next term, then?"

Elizabeth laughs. "I think we've all had experiences like that," she says, drinking her own coffee.

"Most certainly," she nods. "it's a great class."

Geoff looks very pleased at her assessment of the class. "Thank you! I'll be honest, I've been a little uncertain. I've never done anything like this before."

Elizabeth smiles. "That doesn't matter. Some of the best teachers I've known have never taught before. In my opinion, the best teachers aren't taught themselves how to teach... it's just something that they know how to do."

"Well, I appreciate that, Elizabeth. And hopefully, in future we won't have to deal with incidents like today's confrontation (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/400027.html?thread=18698907#t18698907). I apologize for not stopping that before it got out of control."

"At least you stopped it before it resulted in violence," Elizabeth points out. "Obviously those two have some issues, and they need to learn that the classroom is not an approptiate place to get into them."

Indulging in a deep sigh, Geoff nods his head. "Oh yes, there are definitely issues. I hate having to kick students out of class, but..." he shrugs. "I think it was the only way to clear the atmosphere and not disrupt the rest of the lesson."

She nods. "It should at least teach them that they need to keep their personal lives out of the classroom."

"I hope it does, Elizabeth. I want these classes to be enjoyable, not something people dread coming."

He takes a sip of the coffee. "On to a more pleasant subject. You're young to speak so many languages. Have you traveled a lot?" Grinning, he adds, "And feel free to let me know if you think I'm too nosy."

Elizabeth smiles. "It's fine... I have travelled a fair bit, yes," she says. "I've spent time in every continent at some point. But there's still so many places I've still yet to see."

"Every continent? And I thought I'd done a good bit of traveling. Have you considered writing any of it down? About your expereinces abroad, I mean?"

Elizabeth half shrugs. "I like to travel," she says simply. "I've never considered writing any of it down... I'm not really a writer. Not even a journal really."

"But you're taking a speech class, so you must not mind talking, right? So, write it the way you'd say it. Maybe it's just a professional bias, but...I think it interests people. And it sounds likes you've had a relatively unusual life -- which I'm certain people would be interested in hearing about."

He shrugs as well, stopping for a drink of coffee. "As I said, professional bias. So, what about traveling interests you?"

"Talking's fine," Elizabeth admits. "But I tend to prefer trying to find someone else to write it for me." She shrugs. "Maybe I will try it one day. There's a lot of things I won't be able to include, but we can always see."

She grins. "I get restless easy," she says. "I like being able to broaden my horizons, and getting to meet different people and try different foods and drinks. There's just so much beauty around us, and such a variety that it would be a shame if all I had ever seen in my life was the Atlantic coastline."

Geoff nods in agreement. "One of the reasons I took off to travel myself. Meeting people, I mean. How did you end up attending school here at Fandom, then?"

Elizabeth laughs slightly harshly. "I think I irritated the wrong people, and I signed papers without reading them," she says shaking her head and sipping at her coffee. "There was talk of boarding schools, and it ended up being this one."

Geoff raises his eyebrows. "Signing papers without reading them -- probably never a good idea. But I'd have to say as boarding schools go, at least this one's interesting." He grins.

"Not one of my finest moments, I have to admit," Elizabeth grins, slightly sheepishly. "I do normally read everything I sign. But yes. Interesting is certainly the correct word for this school."

With a rueful roll of his eyes, Geoff says, "Oh, trust me. I know all about signing this you shouldn't. And I have to admit that this place confused the hell out of me at first, but I'm starting to realize that it's an experience I wouldn't trade for the world."

Elizabeth giggles slightly. "So, how did you end up here, Professor?" she asks. "If you don't mind me asking, that is."

"I don't mind you asking, Elizabeth, but I'm afraid I can't give you a very good answer. I don't really know myself. One minute I'm walking down the road outside London, the next minutes I'm here. I keep meaning to get the Doctor engaged in a discussion on it, but I think he thinks it'll be too much for my brain to handle." Geoff chuckles, and takes another drink.

"Yeah, I've got friends in The Doctor's class, and also doing an independant study in advanced math. Any time they want to talk about it, I just have to start humming loudly," Elizabeth grins. "Temporal science is not my sort of thing."
