Ethics Class - catch up session, 10am-4pm

Tara posts the class list on the door, as promised in her email, detailing the gaps in each student's participation. Penned at the bottom in a neat round hand is a note: Some of you may have discussed these with TAs out of class. Please inform me if this is the case.

She looks happy and well-rested as she sets up discussion stations around the room.

[ooc: I'll put names on the comment threads for the people who haven't completed them, rather than listing up here. Because I'm odd that way.]

Jonathan walks into Tara's office on Monday morning as if he has no troubles.

"Morning Tara," he calls, "How was your holiday?"

"Vegas was great," he tells her, "even if Anakin did get all the girls. But yeah, I'm glad I went, spending all that time with my friends was exactly what I needed after the past couple weeks."

"I kid you not Tara, the little Jedi couldn't keep them away. He scored us free drinks at like, everywhere we went. I'm thinking I need to get one of those weird braids, cause it must be all about the braid," he tells her with a smile.

Jonathan blushes a bit at that but he's smiling.

"Thanks Tara," he says and then looks down a bit, "so umm, you mentioned dinner not to long ago, with me? I was just wondering when you were, you know, available for that? I have a umm, friend that I really would like for you to meet."

He seems genuinely excited about both dinner and Tara meeting his friend.

"Is umm, is Wednesday a good day for you? I'm pretty sure she's free on Wednesday evenings. I think she is. I really think you'll like her Tara. She's a lot like you in a lot of ways. And not just because she's a witch and stuff. She's really nice and kind and funny when you get to know her."

If you're looking closely enough, it's obvious how much he really wants Tara to like her.

"That sounds great," he says, "And, you live there? Hmmmm, and why the sudden move may I ask?" Jonathan asks teasingly.

"I'm really happy for you Tara. I mean, your relationship with Shane it's amazing. And really proves what I thought all along. That you're a great person that can get through just about anything," Jonathan tells her and then looks a bit uncomfortable.

"Okay so now it seems like I was buttering you up and that's completely not true but I kind of have an ulterior motive for introducing you to my friend Lily," he finally says.

Jonathan smiles at that and shakes his head, "No, Lily Evans? She's English and I don't you've met her yet. I know she's not in any of your classes at least. She used to go to this other school, Hogwarts? It's some school for witchcraft and wizardry in her dimension," Jonathan explains. It doesn't escape him how easy phrases like 'in her dimension' come out.

"The thing is she's been getting kind of worried about losing her abilities. Apparently in her dimension if you don't use your abilities and learn new things your magic goes away or something. And I was thinking about that since you were a witch you might be able to help her out a bit? Tutor her or something?"

Jonathan looks sheepish, "I mean, don't feel obligated or anything because I know that you're pretty busy and all but she could really use some guidance in the magic department. And after hearing about what happened with your ex girlfriend I was thinking maybe her having supervision wouldn't be an entirely bad thing," he looks up and Tara, straight into her eyes, "The last thing I want is for something bad to happen to her, you know?"

Jonathan nods at her plans and smiles.

"With all the students here with magical backgrounds that's a great idea. And with you teaching it they'd learn about the proper use of magic as well which would be really great. I mean, abuse of magic is pretty serious right?" he asks curiously.

"And I'm not sure about the specifics of her schooling. I know a few other students here went there as well but she's been pretty worried about it. When I told her you were the one that did the souling spell she was really impressed. She said something about it probably being a really complicated spell, that both the power and the focus required were really advanced," he tells her.

He looks away for a moment and when he looks back his eyes are a little wider, "Thanks for doing this Tara. It really means a lot to me that you're willing to help me like this. She's... she's been a big part of what makes school so much fun and I just wanted her to get a little help. You really are great."

It sounds pretty serious to Jonathan. And he liked Tara enough not to outwardly cringe at her shortening his name. Because he was nice like that and it's not like they were strangers or anything.

"So, The Ethics of Magic will be a pretty big part of the course then?" he asks.

"Yeah, though I'm sure she wouldn't mind a refresher on the basics, you're probably right," Jonathan tells her, "She's going to be so excited to be have a tutor, to have *you* as her tutor."

"She was just really impressed by the whole souling thing. Really impressed. So impressed it made me think I should have been more impressed. She's known a lot of famous witches and wizards in her world and she seemed to think a lot of them wouldn't have had the control or focus for a spell like that," Jonathan tells her.
