Angelus is inside, looking as though there's a great deal on his mind and as though there's a high likelihood that his distraction has something to do with the travel plans that are scattered across his desk (anyone peeking would see London, Paris, and Rome listed on his notes). On Dr. Carter's desk is a box of fudge nut brownies from Deb's. The door to the classroom is wide open.

Duce watches Faith and Draco glaring at one another and tries not to smile. "Promise I won't eat them all." .. and adds solemnly, without looking at Draco, "Wouldn't want to give myself a raging case of cellulitis. Heard about a kid in town who caught that after eating a plate of brownies once."

Faith raised her eyebrows. "That doesn't sound like a good. Maybe Draco'd like some more?" she wondered to herself, smirking.

"So, what're you doing here?"

Shaking her head solemnly, she adds, "Horrible blobs of fat forming right under your skin. They say it's an accumulated effect - the more baked goods you consume, the more likely an attack is to occur. Apparently, one kid's entire face exploded into grotesquerie right before a date."

Shrugging a shoulder, she muttered, "Promised Pater I'd check the JA out. Also, the thing about Kitty has be buggin'. Figured distractions would be good."

"Wow, that must have sucked," Faith said, doing a slight 'yay, metabolism' dance with her brownie.

Faith frowned at the mention of Kitty. "She's the girl that's disappeared and probably dead, right? I read about that in the paper this morning. That sucks."

Duce does not smirk at Draco. But she thinks about it.

She takes another bite of brownie and nods, "Yup. It does suck. Bets on how soon we're all locked into our rooms at night 'for our own protection'? She knew the curfew, and why it existed, she broke it, now she's missing and presumed dead.. and we're all gonna get spanked for it. Watch."

Faith scowled. "There'll be a riot. Not that you're wrong on your prediction, but my god, it's gonna suck. Half the school's gone missing at one point or another, you'd think this wouldn't be such a big deal. We have a curfew? Oops."

"She is dead," Angelus said, grimly. "I heard about it yesterday. We're supposed to keep it on the down low but considering the rumors going around already I don't see how that's going to help."

"Everyone's heard about it, but has anyone seen a body yet, or gotten a good reason why nobody has seen a body?" Duce holds up her hands, "Playing devil's advocate here. Angelus, you saw how people got when your life was threatened. How bad you think it's gonna get now that someone's gone missing?"

"I know, I know," Angelus rubbed his face. "Believe me, I'm no more thrilled about it than anybody else. Not the least of which is the reason you just mentioned."

He sighed. "Not like Bristow's got me on his speed dial for updates, but last I heard there was no body. Her dragon's freaked, though. Swears she's dead. Swears some killer did it. Which I guess rules out death by banana peel, but still."

"My brain keeps pointing to motive. There's one very obvious motive.. and it's so very obvious that it's giving me the itch. The lack of body and the fact that this rumour is all over school and in print before the police have had time to even do an inquiry, much less make a statement.. Something smells in Denmark. Someone wants this public, and someone wants people pissed off. And that's probably, if she is indeed dead, who killed her."

"Think this could maybe be a kidnapping?" Angelus asked. "It'd be the smarter move for a power game like that. Get everybody up in arms then start mailing Bristow locks of her hair or more personal body parts."

Duce says seriously, "I would sincerely not want to be in the shoes of the mentally deficient motherfucker who did that. The Dean strikes me as someone who takes his responsibilities very seriously, and he's responsible for our well being while we're here."

She rubs a hand over her face, "Although.. part of me hopes that's what's going on. As horrible as it is to think of Kitty in that situation, at least it's a situation with hope and.." she sighs, "if there was any way to get her back, he'd exhaust every resource he had trying. That's the vibe I get off him. I would never want to be on his bad side and whoever did this.. no matter what the outcome.. they just became a member of his top-ten shitlist."

Duce swallows the last of her brownie and nods, grimacing. "Totally gonna suck. Have a feeling this will be the 'example set' one though. Too many people are already seething about it, and there's a bad 'us v. them' feeling attached to it."

We do actually have an IC curfew, but fucked if I can find the post about it.

Faith facepalmed. "Us versus them? Great. I love those sorts of fun school-wide bonding events."

Faith let out something between a snort and a single laugh. "Yeah, right. Here's hoping that the Keystone PD out there actually does something about it before we get to the 'accusing any student who's ever killed someone' stage."

"What would the motive be?" Angelus asked. "Hell, I even liked her. Far as I know she didn't have any secret hobbies of baby-stabbing or wearing white after Labor Day. She was just a normal fourteen year old. Well, besides the dragon and being a mutant part."

"You can see why Veronica's article can't come soon enough," Angelus met Faith's eyes. "You know what names are going to go up on the list if anybody starts looking at people's pasts to find out where a 'killer' label would apply."

Faith's eyes went cold. "Yeah, well here's hoping it doesn't get that far. The last thing I need is anyone asking around about me- especially since some of our fabulous schoolmates know my past in detail."

Duce shakes her head, "At least your past isn't immortalized in works currently on the English curriculum." She pushes a snake off her face absently, "The 'killer' shoe fits entirely too many feet. Without a body, they have no method, with no method, they can't narrow it down. Shit, we have a known assassin here at school. Too many places to point the finger, so they won't be doing it until they can narrow it down."

She mutters, "They'll just do stuff in the name of 'for your protection' until then and drive us all stark, raving mad."
