Detention, Early Saturday Morning

Zoe had hoped that she'd be able to get through the rest of semester without having to deal with anyone getting detention, but, as usual, some of the boys had to ruin things by fighting in class.

Instead of doing it in private like sane individuals, of course. Grace was definitely going to learn better than that when she got older.

She'd left havdwavey messages for Percy and Nico to meet her in the school's cafeteria, and was glad when both of them showed up, bright and early as requested. Apparently, they still had a few braincells left in their heads. "All right, come with me," she said, leading them back into the kitchen, and pointing to the dirty pots, dishes, and silverware stacked all over the counters. "These are the dishes from the school's Thanksgiving dinner. When they are all clean, you may leave. If I find even one dish broken, we will do this all over again next weekend. If there is bloodshed, we will do this all over again next weekend. Are we clear?"

She turned and left without waiting for an answer, perfectly certain that she had been clear. Plus, the smell of the two day old food was a little overwhelming, and she wasn't going to stick around in that kitchen any longer than she had to.

"It might be worth trying," Percy said because he so didn't want to put on this other yellow rubber glove. "What's there to lose?"

If anything, they'd just get more detention.

Nico left his on, almost liking how crazy they looked added to his usual black attire. "Now, it will make kind of a mess of the floor, but I can close that up after..."

"And I can wash any dirt and stuff away if we need it," Percy said, nodding. "Or just cover it with water, harden it and get rid of it that way."

Hey, he wasn't going to actually be washing so he wanted to help somehow.

"You can increase water pressure, right? That could help once we get some extra hands digging in that pile of nasty." Since Nico's were staying dry, thanks.

"Yeah, anything with water," he said, nodding. "I don't know how messy your guys will be but if you stick close enough to me, we'll stay dry too if water starts flying and all."

"True, it's not like the corpses are all that sanitary." He grinned really big all of a sudden. "I'm digging this idea. Last chance to back out before I see how energized I am this morning." Nico really didn't want to pass out over dirty dishes.

"Nah, I say we try it," Percy said, nodding. "There isn't a rule -- "

That he knew about.

" -- that says we can't use our powers. It's pretty ingenious if you ask me."

"Agreed. See if you can't find some more of those yellow gloves while I do this thing," Nico said, pulling his sword from its place hidden beneath his jacket. No, he was never without it. Not even during detention.

Nico turned toward the center of the room and held out his black sword. Taking a deep breath, he channeled his power through the sword and called out, "Serve me!"

Hopefully this worked in Fandom or he was going to look like a major douche.

Percy backed out of the way, reaching for the pen he kept in his pocket just in case. He knew Nico could control them but who knew what what would happen when Fandom interacted with Nico's dead guys.

It didn't take that long at all before the ground, previously uncracked, was now ripping open slowly and widening. Percy had seen this before but it was still kind of amazing to watch especially since he knew these guys weren't going to come after him. The maw in the ground increased, exposing dirt and earth. From that hole, the dead soldiers started crawling out of the ground, still dressed in the uniforms they died in.

Percy swallowed and forgot about finding the gloves, too caught up in watching what Nico was doing.

Nico only brought up five soldiers, thinking that would be be plenty for their task and so he could control them without passing out in front of Percy.

He willed the decomposing warriors toward the sinks easily enough and spoke his next orders, mostly for Percy's benefit. "I'm thinking Union washes, Revolutionary dries, and uh, the trench dude can put stuff away."

"Sounds like it'll work," Percy said, finally finding some extra gloves and pressing them in Nico's hands before going over to see what he could do about getting some extra pressure in the faucets.

It didn't take much once the water got going. He felt it deep underneath his skin and soon the water was coming out of the faucets far faster and harder than normal.

"Heads up!" Nico tossed the gloves to his new workers who snapped them on and got to digging in the pile of dishes without even holding their noses. There were some benefits to being reanimated corpses.

Not that they smelled of roses and honeysuckle themselves.

Nico stayed where he was, standing by the opening in the floor, keeping his focus. It wouldn't do to lose it and break a dish after what the principal had said.

"That's pretty amazing," Percy said, watching the dead guys in action. "Anything I can do or should we just stay out of their way?"

"With that power washer you made, I think we're gonna be out of here in no time," Nico replied, rather proud of how they'd worked together to solve the problem.

Yeah, they'd managed to make it work without killing each other. It was pretty amazing.

"Guess detention isn't so bad after all," Percy said, sounding pleased about the situation. "I think I could handle a few of these now."

Re: Clean the Dishes

[identity profile] deaths-demigod.livejournal.com 2010-11-27 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Now you're inviting trouble," Nico warned. "Dishes we can handle. Monsters, no sweat. But you know the worst they could do to us." It was terrible. Not something Nico should even speak of when they were on a roll like this.

"Hey, I can't be a little pleased?" Percy asked covering his eyes in case Nico's nipples shot off and hit him in said eyes, glancing at the soldiers. "They're pretty good at that."

"I'm telling them what to do." Lots of thoughts of scrubbing and maybe too many thoughts involving soap. Thank Poseidon for the water boy. "It's weird, I'm better at the slashing and stabbing orders."

[identity profile] seaweed-demigod.livejournal.com 2010-11-27 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Who isn't?" Percy asked, flicking his fingers towards the water to make sure it was warm enough to get most of the gunk off the plates. He'd learned that from his mother.

"We'd probably get in trouble if we broke the plates with our swords." Ignore the big hole in the ground for the moment.

Re: Clean the Dishes

[identity profile] deaths-demigod.livejournal.com 2010-11-27 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Guys not trained with swords?" Nico guessed like an ass. "If anyone sees this, bets are they'll find some reason for us to be in trouble regardless of how many plates die in the effort."

Re: Clean the Dishes

[identity profile] seaweed-demigod.livejournal.com 2010-11-27 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Should I lock the door?" Percy wondered, glancing at the door. "I dunno, I could try and create a moat or something if we really wanna make sure we're not bothered."

Because that'd go well.

Re: Clean the Dishes

[identity profile] deaths-demigod.livejournal.com 2010-11-27 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"A moat?" Nico took back his thinking that Percy was ever smart. "Dude, something tells me you couldn't clean up mud fast enough for us to get out of here in time for lunch."

Re: Clean the Dishes

[identity profile] seaweed-demigod.livejournal.com 2010-11-27 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey, just a suggestion," Percy said, making a face. "I could still lock the door and add a nice icy patch in front of it. That'd give us some time if the principal decided to show up."

Re: Clean the Dishes

[identity profile] deaths-demigod.livejournal.com 2010-11-27 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Now that we could use," Nico agreed, thinking if they had warning, he could send the scrubbing soldiers back to the Underworld and close up the hole before anyone could break through ice. "Go for it, Pers."

"Okay," Percy said, taking one last look at the shoulders before opening the kitchen door. It didn't take long for him to create some saltwater out of thin air and then to harden it into an icy, thick patch that settled in front of the door.

Then, Percy closed the door and locked it. "Okay, we should be good till we finish up, at least."
