The Lawn | Noon Onward!

With graduation festivities occurring over the weekend, the school administration expected most of the graduation guests to begin arriving today. To ensure guests felt welcomed, Barney's student council minions had set up a small gathering on the lawn where the guests could arrive, mingle, and feign relaxation before heading off with their graduates.

Or where they could all hear about how George got the makeouts with his girl the night before. Someone was a little chatty while hefting the tables and chairs that would serve guests well for getting a load off after travel, and Barney thought it was a tale worth sharing. For the hungry and forgetful, there were finger foods and nametags spread out on a long table. It was time to get the all-weekend grad party started!

[Up early because I have no control over the internets once I go to work!]

Their first visit their son's school happened to the his high school graduation for many reasons. It wasn't that they hadn't wanted to see him but Hannibal had his life and they had theirs and it'd worked out.

But, they weren't going to ignore his graduation thus the parents of Hannibal King were checking in and glancing around the island curiously.

"It's warm here," John said idly, slapping on a nametag. "I can see why he's stayed so long."

"He's probably at the beach now," his wife answered, smiling as she settled her own nametag on her shirt. "That's where I'd be."

Sebastien, in truth, was not well enamored of nametags. He thought it took the effort out of conversation, and if a creature such as he could extend the courtesy involved in learning a name, he saw no reason why others could not.

Nevertheless, in a show of his own good manners, he took one.

Dean had dropped his stuff off at the house, checking in on family, cat, and cat's kitten mama before heading off to the official arrival thingy.

Partially to check in on his brother and friends who would also be graduating, partially because he knew there was going to be the usual food spread available. And Dean was nothing if not about the free food.

Like Luke was going to let little things like getting enslaved for a few days, being kind of dead for a bit, and listening to Threepio sing (in his mind, the worst of the three) stop him from getting to Jaina's graduation.

Besides, he needed to tell Rory that Leia was engaged. Maybe she could tell Anakin. And Luke could be way over here, or possibly in another galaxy?

He skipped the nametag and headed for the snacks instead.

Han was here solo today and someone's player thought she was hilarious. This was so far looking a little different than the graduations he'd been used to, meaning there were fewer people in either uniforms or robes, but he was sure those were coming.

He was also forgoing a nametag. Come on. By the sounds of it, half the people here already knew who he was.

Luke caught sight of a familiar face and couldn't help himself.

He snuck up and began humming "The Virtues of King Han Solo."

Han frowned, recognizing the tune, and turned around to see who it was.

Seeing a younger Luke was never not going to be strange. Or stop making Han feel old.

"I had just gotten that out of my head," Han lied.

"You mean I'm going to be singing that song for thirty years?" Luke pretended to look aghast. "Shoot me now."

Dominic didn't need a name tag as his uniform already has a nice shiny badge. This was good because he was extra nervous and trying to avoid people. Not so much strangers, he could deal with them, but he was half-dreading that a certain beautiful pink-haired girl he knew might find him.

And turn him into even more of a stammering wreck than she usually did.

"Calm down, Dominic." Maria should not be as amused by this as she was, but even four years -- had it really been that long, since Dewey had ordered Anemone stationed aboard the Izumo? -- hadn't managed to make his devotion less-adorable. "You look like you're about to get eaten alive."

Dominic looked over at her in something of a panic. "You don't think she'd really--?" Then he scowled. Of course she wouldn't.

"But... what if...?" He trailed off and reached into his pocket as if to check that something was still there.

"To the best of my knowledge, Anemone hasn't even bitten a single one of her classmates in three years, let alone eaten any," Maria said dryly. "I think you're safe."

Cor was used to this process -- this was, after all, his third (and final) visit to this odd island. He carefully wrote out his name on his tag before affixing it to his tunic, and looked around. He wasn't sure why, really -- he was tall enough now that Aravis would certainly find him before he managed to locate her.

Johnny slapped his nametag to his chest, grabbed a handful of chips, and more or less just wandered around. He was happy to be here. In just over a week he'd be taking his girl home with him.

So yeah, he was all but bouncing with the happy.

Someone may have been watching for his arrival for a little while.

Okay, she'd been up before the sun and bouncing about seeing him.

That would be why, when she spotted him, he ended up with arms full of Savannah.

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2010-04-29 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It was not as though he wasn't expecting an armful of Savannah, but he laughed and squeezed her tight. "How's my girl?"

And yes, that would be a bundle of blonde flinging herself at Johnny. "HI!"

What, like K-Mart was passing up a chance to see the closest thing she had to a big brother?

Re: Arrival

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2010-04-30 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, he didn't anticipate this one but that didn't mean he wasn't squeezing her tight, doing his best to pick her feet up off the floor. "Miss me did you?"

Rory amused herself at check-in by getting not only a nametag for herself, but writing Juliet's name on one and sticking it to the baby's shirt.

Juliet immediately busied herself with trying to eat that sticker, much to Rory's chagrin.

Adam debated the nametag for a few seconds, then decided to put one on and just go with it. He was happy to be back and helped himself to a drink, deciding to do a bit of people watching.

He'd hunt down a couple of soon-to-be-graduates in a bit.

Tori was half-tempted to forgo the nametag but slapped one on at the last minute. She could have a doppleganger somewhere and she didn't want to confuse folks. Better safe than sorry, right?

She decided to head for the snacks, maybe wander a bit afterward.

Icheb didn't mind the nametag and so put it on without much thought.

It still felt kinda surreal to be back. Okay, so she'd been back already to see Mairin and all, but still. This was different. This was graduation.

Her baby girl's graduation. Something she'd never thought she'd actually get to see.

If she looked a little misty-eyed as she pinned her nametag on, well... she was.

John Burton found his name tag, put it on, and started to look for that son of his who hadn't so much as written a letter, as far as he knew.
