The Lawn | Noon Onward!

With graduation festivities occurring over the weekend, the school administration expected most of the graduation guests to begin arriving today. To ensure guests felt welcomed, Barney's student council minions had set up a small gathering on the lawn where the guests could arrive, mingle, and feign relaxation before heading off with their graduates.

Or where they could all hear about how George got the makeouts with his girl the night before. Someone was a little chatty while hefting the tables and chairs that would serve guests well for getting a load off after travel, and Barney thought it was a tale worth sharing. For the hungry and forgetful, there were finger foods and nametags spread out on a long table. It was time to get the all-weekend grad party started!

Han was here solo today ~~and someone's player thought she was hilarious~~. This was so far looking a little different than the graduations he'd been used to, meaning there were fewer people in either uniforms or robes, but he was sure those were coming.

He was also forgoing a nametag. Come on. By the sounds of it, half the people here already knew who he was.

Luke caught sight of a familiar face and couldn't help himself.

He snuck up and began humming "The Virtues of King Han Solo."

Han frowned, recognizing the tune, and turned around to see who it was.

Seeing a younger Luke was never not going to be strange. Or stop making Han feel old.

"I had just gotten that out of my head," Han lied.

"You mean I'm going to be singing that song for thirty years?" Luke pretended to look aghast. "Shoot me now."

"Can't. Leia'd never forgive me." Also Luke was important and Han was kind of attached to him and all that. "Do you have to look so young?"

"Did you have to get so old?" Luke retorted with a grin.

"Just wait, kid," Han said, meaning the 'kid' part, "you're gonna get old yourself. I've seen it." ~~Besides the constant description of Luke's boyish looks.~~

~~Well there's only so many pictures for the covers of books, after all~~ "I don't get bald and fat, do I?" Luke asked.

"Both," he replied immediately. He was lying a lot.

"Liar," Luke said, reaching out to smack Han on the arm.

"Hey, you don't know. Have you seen yourself in the future? 'Cause I'm from it," he said. Still lying.

"No, but I can tell when you're lying," Luke said, still smiling. This was the Han he knew. Not the weird tazering jealous guy.

"Jedi," he grumbled. "Can't let a guy get away with anything."

"We're no fun at all," Luke agreed. "How have you been? Recently. No reason for a twenty year rundown."

The twenty year rundown would be a little... wrong, anyhow. "Recently? It's been quiet. Which probably means we're in for a whole new set of problems, but might as well enjoy it till the shooting starts again. I'd ask about you, but..." He'd been there already.

"...I'll start singing that song again and have to kill myself before graduation?" Luke finished. "By the way, this far from the event, what the hell were you thinking? The Gun of Command? Really?"

Han shrugged. "It was a rough time." That pretty much summed it up.

"Isolder wasn't that impressive," said a guy who had never once been jealous.

Except about Leia. But that was awkward and not to be dwelled on.
