Office Hours - Thursday 20.10

Today Charlie is amusing himself by throwing office basketball and calculating probabilities while waiting for either his study group or Angelus to show up. Or someone else.

(ooc: May actually have to work at work today, so replies will be slow. Study group - feel free to babble amongst yourself. Anybody else, be patient. I will reply.)

Janet stops in, a large cup of coffee in hand, and sits down, waiting for Sam and John. She slips her backpack onto the floor and starts flipping through one of the medical research books Teal'c Murray sent her yesterday.

Sam, small cup of coffee in hand (but flavored with caffeinated flavor syrup (*love* Jack!)), sits down next to Janet, dumping her messenger bag on the floor. "Hey. What're you reading?"

She pulls out a notebook and a mechanical pencil and eraser.

Janet grins and holds up a book on nanotechnology and medical research. "Murray sent it to me. He thought I'd be interested." She takes another drink of her coffee and wishes she'd remembered to add the caffeinated French Vanilla flavor syrup this morning. "How're you doing?"

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Sam grinned back. Nice to know she wasn't the only dork in the room. Especially since she was now checking her pencil to make sure it had enough lead. "I'm good. A little sore still from running yesterday, but whatever. Last time we let Aeryn set the pace, I swear."

She took another sip of coffee.

"She's brutal about it," said Janet. "Cam and I were thinking that she might take it easier on us if we talked John into coming along too. Though I think he just wants to throw a glass of water on John to wake him up." Janet grinned at Sam's mechanical pencil and pulled a notebook, a couple of standard pencils, and a pencil sharpener out of her backpack.

"I'm all for anything that will stop the repeat of yesterday morning," Sam said, groaning as she rotated her shoulders. "And hey, wet Crichton. That wouldn't be so bad. Not that we'd be peeking, because that way lies death, but it's still a nice visual."

Sam laughed at Janet's pencils. "Old school, huh? Could we be bigger geeks?"

[ooc: We completely forgot to ask Shep if he'd be interested in the independent study! D'oh!]

"God, yes," said Janet, surreptitiously stretching her legs out in front of her. "We'd never get caught at it, anyway."

"I like my pencils!" exclaimed Janet, only slightly not at all defensively. "Besides, I made everyone who wanted a library card fill out their form in blue or black ink. So, no, we really couldn't be bigger geeks."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, your pencils are great. They're not mechanical, of course..." Sam grinned, "And what do you have against purple and green ink? It's a conspiracy, I tell you!"
janet_fraiser: (Default)

[personal profile] janet_fraiser 2005-10-20 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course they're not mechanical," said Janet, rolling her eyes at Sam. "I like these better." She gave Sam an irritated look, but there was underlying amusement. "Have you ever had to read page after page of glittery purple ink?" She shuddered. "It's agony."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know you do, and no, I haven't. The Air Force, as you know, is not big on purple in any form, but especially in ink form. I'll take your word for it."

"Then you're a lucky, lucky person. However, teenage girls like Cassie are very big on writing their book reports in it." Janet shuddered. "I'm traumatized, Sam. I have a complex."

John, having almost forgotten about the meeting with Professor Eppes, comes jogging up, out of breath.

"Am I late? Did I miss it?" He stops, smiles, and puts his hands on his knees to catch his breath. "Hey guys."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, we talked about encryption algorithms before, but I worry that that's been overdone. I'd like to do something truly original. Maybe something with wormholes."
janet_fraiser: (Default)

[personal profile] janet_fraiser 2005-10-20 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Why am I not surprised?

"Sounds interesting," says Janet. Like she'd been saying to Sam last night, she should really stretch beyond the biological sciences--at least a bit. If nanotechnology ever became common in the medical profession, she'd need to know more. "Like what with wormholes?"

OOC: Pretend Janet knows at least a bit more than average here even if I know next to nothing about the subject, please? :)

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
*sticks tongue out at Janet*

"I'm not sure, actually. Maybe trying to figure out mathematically how they could be generated, or even if they would be. Whether they'd be stable, that kind of thing."

OOC: I'm making it up here, as well. Here's hoping John comes up with something brilliant, or we'll be stuck with this.
janet_fraiser: (Default)

[personal profile] janet_fraiser 2005-10-20 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
*smirks at Sam*

"You hear some wild things about wormhole theories, don't you?" asked Janet. "What would you use a wormhole for if you could generate one, anyway?"

OOC: Unfortunately, John + Wormholes is the other Farscape OTP. I think we're stuck, which, really for Sam? Not so bad. We can BS our way through here! Somehow...

During a quiet time, Angelus comes knocking on the door.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Angelus came in. "Hey teach, this a good time?"

[ooc: NP. I'm at work so take as long as you need]

"No problem," Angelus said. "I'm swamped myself. See you Tuesday."
