Today Charlie is amusing himself by throwing office basketball and calculating probabilities while waiting for either his study group or Angelus to show up. Or someone else.

(ooc: May actually have to work at work today, so replies will be slow. Study group - feel free to babble amongst yourself. Anybody else, be patient. I will reply.)

"Oh, you never know," Janet says. "I should probably check in the library for some books. ~~Gosh, really? No!~~"

OOC: Uh... I think we need John to answer this one. He had the equations before Scorpy found out about them. *pokes John* *makes faces at him*

"There's some truly original theories out there...right up there with the aliens and the pyramids. ~~I know! Shocking, isn't it?~~"

OOC: That's what I thought. Didn't want to raise that fully unless John (and Aeryn, presumably) wanted to deal with it IC.

*starts giggling uncontrollably*

*thinks it was when Jack gave us the caffeinated gift packages*

"Aliens and the pyramids?" Janet raised an eyebrow. Must not laugh. Must. Not. Laugh. "Someone wrote about aliens and the pyramids? Scientifically? ~~You know, I bet if someone figured out how to create wormholes for travel, people from Earth could travel all kinds of amazing places.~~"

OOC: Yep, I know what you mean. *pokes John again just for fun*

~~*sits up at attention, very prim and proper*~~

~~*appears to have no idea why Janet's giggling*~~

"I don't remember when, or who, but I remember hearing something about some poor schmuck who thought aliens built the pyramids. Or something." She's biting the inside of her cheek now.

"Wow, wouldn't that be amazing? And there could be one team made up of misfits, and they could have the worst aggregate romantic luck in all of recorded history and go on interspace adventures and stuff.

*collapses to floor*

*tries to look innocent and fails miserably*

"Wow," said Janet, her eyes wide. "The guy who wrote that must have been put on medication after he was published. Everyone knows how the pyramids were built." The look of suppressed mirth on Sam's face was almost too much for her. She pressed her lips together and looked as serious as possible.

~~"If there were a team of misfits like that, we'd all feel very sorry for them. I wonder if there would be anybody waiting at home to patch them up who had equally lousy romantic luck?~~

John shakes himself out of his daydream of Aeryn and ice cream. "Uh, sorry. Didn't get much sleep last night. So, we're talking about something to study. And you guys wanna do it on wormholes?"

Sam takes a second to regain her composure. "I'm not sure. It's a possibility."

[OOC: Oh thank God! *hugs John-mun* You ended the silliness!]

"Hmm." John leans back in his seat. "Well, I've been taking Quantum Physcis classes where we've been talking about the possibilities of these things but we haven't even delved into the scientific possibilities and the plausbility. I mean, could a wormhole even ever be stable?"

Sam tried not to draw blood as she bit down on her tongue.

"I think that there's at least a viable argument that they could be. The problem is that no one knows how they're created." She shrugged. "I know this sounds more like a physics problem, but there's got to be a mathematical basis to support the physics, right?"

She looked to Professor Eppes for confirmation.

"I think exploring the mathematical and scientific possibilities of creating a stable wormhole could be fascinating. There's gotta be a mathematical slant to this, a way to incorporate equations." John's getting a little excited now. "And Sam's right, they could be real and made stable. That could make interstellar travel possible!"

Sam sends a sympathetic look to Janet and mouths, "Sorry."

John's enthusiasm is infectious, though, and she's soon grinning. "I think you're right. Where would we come up with the equations, though? I'm not sure exactly where to start."

"The equations would most likely come from wormhole geometry." John grins again, finally able to do something interesting with space stuff. "We could theoretically study the spacetime geometry of a wormhole and how that would lead to an equation of a traverable wormhole."

"We could," Sam said, speaking excitedly. She's never really had people who cared about discussing wormhole math and physics before. This should be fun. "But I think we may be looking at more than one equation--I think we're going to be looking at a series of equations. And if we can figure out the right sequence, we might be able to figure out how to generate one ourselves one day."

"Okay...maybe we won't, but other people could."

Janet grins at Sam and shakes her head in amusement. "I asked for it," she murmurs.

"Are you interested?" asks Janet. "Or is there something else you wanted to work on?"

"Definitely interested!"

She was doomed. Completely doomed.

John just grins like a doof at her. "It'll be fun! Math is fun!"

Janet grins back at John. Her math is fine. She enjoys math. It's wormhole physics that she knows nothing about.

"Mmm." Sam said. "Actually, I heard he's now teaching English as a Second Language somewhere. Poor guy." Sam looked over at John, hoping that he would say something to save them.

~~"I know, wouldn't you! And I don't know where they'd ever find someone like that, Janet. Now you're just being silly."~~

*accepts gratefully*

*has stitch in side from laughing so much*

"That's such a waste," said Janet. "I wonder if he regrets that?" Janet glanced over at John and wondered when he was going to say anything at all to stop this train wreck.

~~"It's totally unrealistic. Did I tell you I was thinking she'd die in the arms of one of the misfits? It would be hopelessly tragic."~~

John looks from Janet to Sam and wonders what he can say to interrupt their little thing. He can think of nothing.

So he just sits back and enjoys it.

Janet contemplates slow and horrible ways for John to die.

Possibly involving needles.

John is oblivious to the evil thoughts and just keeps on grinning.

Janet thinks of all the many exotic diseases she could infect John with and how each would cause him to die painfully.
