Ethics [Tuesday, February 9, 2nd period]

When the Ethics class arrived in the Danger Shop, they stepped into an entirely different world: An incredibly dry, hot one that smelled really bad.

Anakin waved his hand around the room. "Welcome to the embodiment of gluttony," he said, "the palace of a Hutt."

He concentrated on the controls on the far side of the room, and the simulation sprung to life: dozens of beings drinking, eating, and dancing, with all activity centered around a vile slug of a beast laying on the raised dais (not that it really had many other options for range of motion) at the front of the room.

"That," Anakin said, nose wrinkling in disgust as he pointed, "is a Hutt. This particular version is named Jabba, and is one of the most powerful crime lords in the galaxy." Or was, but he wouldn't exactly be mentioned what happened to Jabba in a class with Leia in it. "Today is an interactive experience for you, class. Take a good hard look around. See the effects that gluttony can have."

His eyes went flat. "Touch any of the dancing girls and you'll regret it. And try not to get addicted to any of the drugs those aliens--" he jerked his thumb toward the bar "--are pushing."

Anakin can be sensitive, okay? He just doesn't normally choose to be.

Claire looked pretty disgusted by the palace and the Hutt. Her nose wrinkled and she was pretty sure she never wanted to wallow in gluttony like this.

Leia, though she didn't realize it now, of course, was glad there were no carbonite-encased smugglers on the wall, thank you very much.

She was really wishing she had a thermal detonator, though.

Bruce was intrigued. This was probably the most worthwhile topic in this class for him so far. It gave him some insight into the mind of a mob boss, gave him an idea of the way a criminal of this power would set up their domain, and maybe - just maybe - give him a clue as to how he would take down a gangster in this kind of situation.

Oblivious to any sort of plotting to take down criminal organizations with extreme planning and the super power of kicking-your-ass, Jean sidled over toward Bruce. "This is really gross."

The heat was the thing that was really catching Bod's attention. He wasn't used to this type of temperature and found himself wishing for a bottle of water.

The Hutt in front of him didn't really bother him all that much. Benefit of his upbringing, he supposed. He couldn't really make faces when he'd been raised by ghosts.

Though the smell was admittedly unpleasant, Illyria had to shrug at the Hutt itself, and the general surroundings. If anything, it was vaguely familiar and even a little comforting; she'd known a number of god-entities who'd lived like this, in her day.

Leia really had no interest in exploring the palace. She found it disgusting and was doing her best not to touch anything. She knew it was just a simulation, but still, it made her want to take a shower the second she got out of here.

Bruce skulked around the palace, doing his best to look inconspicuous. He had two personal goals. First, figure out the best way to get up to Jabba without looking like a suspicious character. Second, figuring out a way to take Jabba down while surrounded by his goons. He wasn't necessarily going to try it. He just wanted to come up with a plan.

Layla was slowly walking around the palace looking at everything with a small look of curiosity.

Even if he was curious about the place, Bod was still going to be careful. He stayed mostly to the fringes of the crowd, avoiding bumping into people to prevent any unnecessary scuffles from breaking out.

It was easy to listen to conversations going on around him if he made it look like he was watching the dancing girls when, in reality, he was eavesdropping on various bar patrons.

Effy had managed to put her former look of disgust at this whole place, and the slug-like being aside for the moment, distracting herself with a little exploration.

Not into touching the dancing girls (or anything much around here, to be honest) she was just letting curious eyes wander.

Zack found himself wide-eyed, trying to take in as many of the sights as he possibly could, all at once.

He was such a small-town kid at heart.

Griff had totally not missed that there was a thread for him today was in sheer awe of the giant slug on the throne thing. Also, did anyone else see the aliens? Because they were aliens.

Like, ones with weird things sticking off their heads.
