Ethics [Tuesday, February 9, 2nd period]

When the Ethics class arrived in the Danger Shop, they stepped into an entirely different world: An incredibly dry, hot one that smelled really bad.

Anakin waved his hand around the room. "Welcome to the embodiment of gluttony," he said, "the palace of a Hutt."

He concentrated on the controls on the far side of the room, and the simulation sprung to life: dozens of beings drinking, eating, and dancing, with all activity centered around a vile slug of a beast laying on the raised dais (not that it really had many other options for range of motion) at the front of the room.

"That," Anakin said, nose wrinkling in disgust as he pointed, "is a Hutt. This particular version is named Jabba, and is one of the most powerful crime lords in the galaxy." Or was, but he wouldn't exactly be mentioned what happened to Jabba in a class with Leia in it. "Today is an interactive experience for you, class. Take a good hard look around. See the effects that gluttony can have."

His eyes went flat. "Touch any of the dancing girls and you'll regret it. And try not to get addicted to any of the drugs those aliens--" he jerked his thumb toward the bar "--are pushing."

"No, technically it's a lesson," Bruce said. "I think that means he can get away with it."

"That's pretty gross still," Jean replied. She would complain to the administration, but...

Deadpool.

Ew.

"How have you been? Bobby didn't attack you or anything when he was a penguin, right?"

He might have had reason to at the carnival, but Bruce was doing his best to not think about that, just in case. "No, he didn't. I haven't been attacked by anything recently, which is pretty nice."

"I'm sure someone will soon," Jean assured him, going along with the joke.

Because it was totally a joke, right? Right?

"Aren't you the optimist?" Bruce joked. Yes, that one was a joke. "Speaking of being optimistic, do you have a date for the dance yet?"

Yes, Bruce. Fall into her dating trap. Goood. Gooood.

"Not yet, no..."

"Would you like to go with me?" Bruce asked.

"I'd love to." And thus... somewhere... more comic book fans cried and didn't know why.

"Great. We can meet up at your room before the dance and then head out," Bruce said.

"Great!" Jean leaned over, and because they were in class and she was from a PG cartoon, kissed him on the cheek.
