The benches in this section were a little further from the bonfire than the others. If people were sensible, they might want to keep all their clothes on over here, but Fandom, of course, has never been graced with an overabundance of sensible people.

Was it kind of creepy that Damon was hanging out at the school and looking at the new students? Kind of. But Damon watched people while they slept so creepy was kind of his calling card.

There was one thing that could distract Jacob from the food. The scent burned the back of the crowd and if he were in wolf form, his hackles would have been up.

It wasn't hard to track and the guy was radiating bloodsucker, at least to Jacob's senses. He should have known that a place like this would attract them.

His fists clenched and a wave of heat rushed down his back. "What the fuck are you doing here?"

Damon smirked at the kid (he might've been taller than Damon but he was still a kid) and shrugged his shoulders. "Nice day out, wanted to meet some people. What the fuck are you doing here?"

"Getting in the mood to rip leech apart," Jacob growled, forgetting for a moment that he didn't have a pack with him. "Tell me, do you all perv on high school kids? Is that a general thing you've got going on?"

Yes, yes they did. And they all watched people sleep.

"I'm just standing here," Damon said, still smiling. "Something you obviously have a problem with. Care to share why?"

"Because you're a bloodsucker," Jacob moved closer and the quivering had nothing to do with being cold. "And bloodsuckers don't just watch."

"I can smell you leeches from miles away," Jacob said. "And I'm not going to stand here and let you pick out your next snack."

Damon didn't much appreciate someone threatening to stop him from eating. "I think maybe you should back off, kid. You don't know what you're getting into."

"I know exactly what I'm getting in to," Jacob didn't know what backing off meant. There was no Bella here to stop him and he had a whole lot of rage he would just love to work off. "You wouldn't be the first leech I rip apart."

"No, kid, you really don't know what you're getting into. If you did, you would have walked away by now," Damon said, stepping closer to Jacob. He knew it would be stupid to vamp out now but even he couldn't stop the way his pupils got wider and his eyes darkened. At least his teeth seemed to be staying normal for now.

The scent got stronger and Jacob's hands were clenched more tightly, a low growl escaped his throat. If he had any sense, he'd know that without his pack, he couldn't do this on his.

There wasn't a whole lot of sense in him when he was seeing red. The stench was burning his throat and he needed to calm down. Hard to calm down with a leech so frigging close. "I don't run away from a corpse."

He needed to calm down, he couldn't morph in front of so many people.

Didi sensed a disturbance in the force had been keeping an eye on Jacob as he made his way through the picnic, so she noticed when the words he exchanged with the other young man went sharp.

"Jacob?" she asked warily, trying to subtly position herself as a shield. "Is this someone you know from home?"

"Creepy" was subjective. Especially if the guy in question was hot. And didn't sparkle.

"New student, new teacher, or are you just enjoying the show?" Elena asked.

"The last one," Damon said. "There was nothing on TV, I've never been to the school before, so I decided to check it out."

"It's a nice school," Elena grinned. "Lots of pretty people, and some of them even take their shirts off in January."

He could, if he wanted to. She had a feeling he'd look nice with his shirt off ...

"The school is fairly permissive on such matters," Elena said with a laugh. "Co-ed roommates, and kissing parties. It's like they're encouraging us."

Not that she needed any encouragement, personally.

"Excuse me if I'm showing my age, but what is a kissing party?" he asked. He knew what it sounded like but he had to make sure.

"I haven't been to one," Elena explained, "but I'm fairly sure everyone gets drunk and makes out. Drinking optional. Last time, it was just girls."

Elena was so very sad that she wasn't bi. The girls at this school were much ... friendlier than a lot of the guys.

Damon smiled and gave a shrug. "Sure. It's an easy job and I get to drink all the booze I want. Plus I get to meet all sorts of interesting people."
