BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Timing had worked in Bruce's favor this morning. After a long overnight flight from Japan, he was really early for the shuttle to Fandom. That was according to plan. This way he'd get to see how people came into the room marked "Fandom High," whether they were nervous, or excited, or annoyed at the very thought of having to go to school.

Those first impressions didn't necessarily mean anything, but Bruce felt they often gave a good insight into how his new classmates would react in a stressful situation. You never knew when that kind of thing might come in handy.

[OOC: OCD is coming up!]

To Jacob's surprise, he hadn't actually gotten any funny looks when he asked for directions ot the Portalocity Port. It still sounded made up to him, but whatever. He seemed to be at the right place as there were already some other teenagers waiting.

Jacob dropped his duffel bag to the ground and after the long flight in a too small chair, he was content to keep standing up. Hopefully the bus drive wouldn't take too long.

Dru glanced at the newcomer sharply, the faint taste of wax oranges and salt she'd gotten off Leia now much stronger in her mouth at the arrival of new boy.

Jacob raised an eyebrow as he noticed the odd look he was getting and he leaned forward. "Something wrong?"

"No," Dru said immediately, mad at herself for such an obvious reaction. Way to give clues that she knew something was exactly normal. "Just checking out another newbie. You know how it is."

Not that obvious. Once he got outside of the res, most kids seemed to give him those kind of looks. It seemed to come with being as tall as his was.

"Yeah?" he smirked. "And what makes you so sure I'm a newbie? For all you know I've been going to that school for years."

Tall, yeah, that was it. He was tall.

"Your bag's a clue," Dru replied. "But then again, you could be a student returning from break and be part of some sort of welcoming committee, in which case, you're a bit late to the party. Some of use have been here for a while."

Jacob barked a laugh and shook his head. "Nah, I'm not welcoming enough for that," he said and he held up his hands in truce. "I'm new. The name's Jacob Black."

"Dru Anderson, fellow newbie. Nice meeting you Jacob." For the moment at least, that opinion could change if tried to kill her.

He saved the killing attempts for the leeches and she didn't smell like one so for now, she was safe.

"Same," he replied. "So where are you coming from?"

"We already have an official name?" Jacob asked. "How long exactly have you guys been waiting here already?"

Jacob nodded. "Mine was delayed for half an hour. Which isn't too bad this time of year, I guess. Where are you coming from?"

"That's a long trip," Jacob said. "Gotham City? Never heard of it. Where's that? Canada?"

"Huh," Jacob shrugged. "I haven't, but I'm not exactly an export on geography. I'm from La Push, which is... pretty small."

Wow, tall kid. "Hey," Roy said. "Welcome to the party."

"Thanks," Jacob said, glancing around at the group. "I think they forgot to put out the snacks and drinks. Think we can complain somewhere?"
exspeedydotcom: (hiding a smile)

"There's gotta be a Starbucks around here somewhere," Roy said. He gestured toward Bruce. "I think he was the first one here. Maybe he hid them."

Batman was going to end him at some point, and he was okay with that.

"More likely he just ate them," Jacob said, mostly because that's what he would have done. "Was he covered in crumbs when you got here?"
exspeedydotcom: (chuckle)

"No, but he's sneaky like that," Roy said. He held out one hand to shake. "Roy Harper."

Jacob hesitated, but then he reached out to quickly shake Roy's hand. He let go again almost instantly, hoping Roy wouldn't notice exactly how hot his skin felt. "Jacob Black. I say we make him treat us to whatever edible food we can find around here."
exspeedydotcom: (looking up at you)

Roy noticed, but didn't say anything. "He's rich, so that sounds like a plan to me."

So there were rich kids then. "It sounds like you know him, so maybe you should inform him of the plan."
