BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Timing had worked in Bruce's favor this morning. After a long overnight flight from Japan, he was really early for the shuttle to Fandom. That was according to plan. This way he'd get to see how people came into the room marked "Fandom High," whether they were nervous, or excited, or annoyed at the very thought of having to go to school.

Those first impressions didn't necessarily mean anything, but Bruce felt they often gave a good insight into how his new classmates would react in a stressful situation. You never knew when that kind of thing might come in handy.

Her aunts had sent most of Leia's belongings ahead, or there probably wouldn't have been room enough on the shuttle for all of it. Not that she wanted to bring that much with her, but her father's sisters never took no for an answer. Especially when it came to hair. As soon as she got to the school, these braids were going down.

For now, she waited for the shuttle to take her to Fandom.

Between the hair, the clothes, and you know, being the first girl in the room, Bruce was intrigued when Leia walked in. "Welcome to the waiting party," he said. "You're one of the fashionably early people."

Leia glanced about at the other people who were in the room, then favored the boy with a smile. "Everyone here is going to Fandom as well?" she said.

"So far," Bruce noted. "We could draw lost people eventually, though."

"Are you a new student as well?" Leia asked. "Or returning from a trip?"

"Both, really. I'm a new student, but I did just get back to the country after a few months in Japan," Bruce said. "Where are you coming in from?"

Well, the clothes and hair were kind of different, but, "Hi, there," Roy said, dredging up a flirtatious look despite the fact that it was Way Too Damn Early. "Going to Fandom High?"

Leia wasn't pleased about being sent so far from home, but she was liking the look of the boys so far. "Yes," she said, smiling. "And I take it you are as well?"

"Sure am," Roy said. "Roy Harper. I'm a junior." No need to mention the 'repeating' thing, right? Right.

"Leia," she introduced herself. "I'm a junior, too."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Leia," Roy said, offering his hand, then belatedly wondering if her people, whoever they were, shook hands. "Where are you from, may I ask?"

"These bozos bothering you, girl?" Gunn asked as he gestured to ~~the other threads~~ "Say the word and I'll chase them off ofr you."

Leia sized Gunn up and smiled. "Not so far, but I'll keep that in mind," she said.

"I'm Gunn," he said his grin getting a tad bigger. "Charles Gunn. New student extraordinaire. You heading to Fandom too?"

"I am," Leia confirmed. "I'm Leia. Very nice to meet you."

"Leia," he repeated and then added in a teasing tone. "Now see why did your parents go ahead and give such an ugly name to a pretty girl like you?"

Kurt gave her an appreciative -- and kind of goofy -- smile. "I like the hair," he told her.

"You wouldn't say that if you had to spend two hours every morning braiding it," Leia said, but she smiled.

"If you don't like braiding it, then why do it?" Kurt had to ask. "Sure, it looks nice, but two HOURS??? That's CRAZY."

"Tell that to my aunts," Leia sighed. "They're the ones who insist on it."

"Do you get in trouble if you don't? It's a HAIRSTYLE."

There was a pretty girl, of course Marco was going to introduce himself. "Hey there. Heading over to Fandom?"

"I am," Leia confirmed. "And so are you, I take it?"

Marco shook his head. "Nah, I just took some time off so I have to do the newbie thing again. So uh, if you need any help adjusting? I can probably help you out a bit."

"What's it like?" Leia asked. "I'm told it's unusual."
