Library [10/02]

Jono understood that, as today was the day where people had family and friends and who only knew what else arriving on the island, he was probably going to have to make certain that the library looked presentable. More or less presentable.

Like a library.

Jono had no idea what a 'presentable library' was supposed to look like, and so he was going to just make sure that the books were more or less shelved in the right places, and then he'd cross his fingers.

Good thing he was dutiful, because someone came in around lunchtime, dragging what was kind of obviously her (slightly younger only by five minutes!) twin brother.

"Glad I guessed the right day," she said cheerfully as she pulled Eliot over to the counter.

Eliot glanced over the the kid behind the counter, taking in the jacket and the scarfthing and--

Okay, he hadn't heard about this one.

"Hi. I'm Eliot. And you are...?"

Eliot looked just a little annoyed at being spoken about while he was standing right there, and so straightened his back a little before speaking.

"I'm the musician, yes," he said.

Fiona gave him a withering look before nodding.

"This is my brother, Eliot. He's the one you heard on the phone. Jonothon, Eliot. Eliot, Jonothon. Jonothon wants to teach me about music."

Eliot blushed just a little. He might be the New Eliot Post, but he was still, well... the old Eliot Post.

"Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. It doesn't sound all that great from the phone, though. Peyton let me listen to it."

He wished she was here, but no. Siiiigh.

"You play?"

Fiona stepped back to let them talk. Mostly, this was for Eliot. And in some part, Jonothon.

Eliot grinned at that. He knew he was good, but it was always nice to hear that someone liked hearing him play. The two weren't the same thing, after all.

"I've played the guitar a few times," notably, once while trying to impress a girl "and I can play for you. Or we could play together while I'm here."

He was joined by two girls with two butterflies fluttering around them. "Jono," Didi called, even more cheerful than her usual default as she gestured to the pink-haired girl at her side. "This is my sister. This is Del."

"I'm having an excellent day," Didi answered. "I went to the picnic, I got to meet people, and then I saw Del. She wants to meet my friends, and" -- shy smile -- "you seemed like a good place to start."

"How's the book business?"

Del LOOKED at her sister, eyes wide. Then at Jono. And back at Didi. "ooOOoOOOOOoOooOoOOoOOOOOOOooooOooOOOOH."

She leveled an accusing finger at Didi. "the OThER TwO elDeST arE GoINg to BE veRy FrOwNy."

Didi rested her forehead against the counter for a moment. It was a nice, cool counter. "She means because of that thing I told you with the rule," she said, looking up. "Del, I'm mortal. Our brothers can pull the sticks out of their asses and deal."

"You say that like they're self-aware enough to know there's a stick," Del grumbled, and for a few moments her eyes flickered between colors, evening-out slightly.

"When I get yelled at for Not Telling, I am pointing at our Sister-Brother and running away."

Didi giggled, surprising herself. "Sure. Blame Desire. It hasn't gotten any of us good and mad at it in a while. And I'll protect you if anyone does yell."
