Library [10/02]

Jono understood that, as today was the day where people had family and friends and who only knew what else arriving on the island, he was probably going to have to make certain that the library looked presentable. More or less presentable.

Like a library.

Jono had no idea what a 'presentable library' was supposed to look like, and so he was going to just make sure that the books were more or less shelved in the right places, and then he'd cross his fingers.

No, the book business wasn't frowny. But, you know, there were some things that just had to be addressed before the rest, and that certainly seemed like one of them.

Didi rested her forehead against the counter for a moment. It was a nice, cool counter. "She means because of that thing I told you with the rule," she said, looking up. "Del, I'm mortal. Our brothers can pull the sticks out of their asses and deal."

"You say that like they're self-aware enough to know there's a stick," Del grumbled, and for a few moments her eyes flickered between colors, evening-out slightly.

"When I get yelled at for Not Telling, I am pointing at our Sister-Brother and running away."

It was perhaps fortunate that Jono had heard stranger terms than 'Sister-Brother' already in his lifetime. He didn't so much as blink.

//Run far and fast,// he suggested, trying his best to be helpful, and fairly certain that, at the moment, he was actually well out of his league here.

Didi giggled, surprising herself. "Sure. Blame Desire. It hasn't gotten any of us good and mad at it in a while. And I'll protect you if anyone does yell."

Del threw back her head and laughed, hair and eyes shifting colors again.

"ANd He'S CutE, Too," she stage-whispered, control already slipping through her fingers like water. "dO you lIKe mY sisTeR Too, mr. JONo-pErsoN?"

//I...// Really, Jono wasn't used to anyone thinking he was cute. Not anymore. But then, he supposed, someone who shifted about like that and Death personified would be just that sort, wouldn't they?

It still threw him off a little.

"Thanks," Didi said, going pink. "And you are cute, Jono. And you have an awesome accent." Inside her head, but still. "And you play guitar."

She turned to Delirium. "He's a musician."

Jono was blushing too, now. That was a lot of flattery to take in all at once. His fragile little ego might not be able to handle it!

"I can sINg!" she claimed, twirling around and getting so excited that a few more butterflies popped in and out of reality around her. "I caN sIng PREtTY SonGS, i cAn SINg THem aLL DaY loNG..."

"She's a lot better at singing than I am," Didi smiled. "... honey, you're making butterflies again. We said two, remember?"

She didn't seem too terribly concerned.

... Dear lord, Didi's sister was crazy and strange and bloody adorable. Jono found himself wanting to give her cookies.
