Library [10/02]

Jono understood that, as today was the day where people had family and friends and who only knew what else arriving on the island, he was probably going to have to make certain that the library looked presentable. More or less presentable.

Like a library.

Jono had no idea what a 'presentable library' was supposed to look like, and so he was going to just make sure that the books were more or less shelved in the right places, and then he'd cross his fingers.

Eliot looked just a little annoyed at being spoken about while he was standing right there, and so straightened his back a little before speaking.

"I'm the musician, yes," he said.

Fiona gave him a withering look before nodding.

"This is my brother, Eliot. He's the one you heard on the phone. Jonothon, Eliot. Eliot, Jonothon. Jonothon wants to teach me about music."

Eliot blushed just a little. He might be the New Eliot Post, but he was still, well... the old Eliot Post.

"Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. It doesn't sound all that great from the phone, though. Peyton let me listen to it."

He wished she was here, but no. Siiiigh.

"You play?"

Fiona stepped back to let them talk. Mostly, this was for Eliot. And in some part, Jonothon.

Eliot grinned at that. He knew he was good, but it was always nice to hear that someone liked hearing him play. The two weren't the same thing, after all.

"I've played the guitar a few times," notably, once while trying to impress a girl "and I can play for you. Or we could play together while I'm here."

"I'll make it to your room sometime this weekend. And since I have to eat" unlike some people, "I'll probably be at the Perk for breakfast."

...he liked their bagels. What?

It got a look from Fiona. After all, in this company, he was actually in the minority when it came to consumption.

"And once we get going, I don't think anyone will complain," he said with a little smile.

He looked over at his sister in something between amusement and fatigue.

"Some of us have more classes than just one or two a day. I know all about genres, and some of the music history that was exed out in our books. And I can play just about anything on anything, but I'm best on the violin."

He glanced back at his sister.

"Can I stick around here for a while? I know you have" and he waved a hand to indicate Dallas and Aaron "but I'm good here."

She nodded and gave the boys a wave before heading out.

"I've been here once before," he admitted, glancing around the library. Then he corrected.

"The island, not the library. It's nice. Different from the school I'm going to.

"I came for a convention of musicians a couple of months ago. So did our dad, but he couldn't come this time."

With Dallas and Aaron around, it would have been suicide for all involved.

"Dad's a musician," he said as he put his bag down, "in fact, he's the one who gave me my violin. It used to be his."

He reached into the bag and pulled out a violin case.

"Have you ever heard of the Pied Piper of Hamelin?"

Eliot's smiles came much easier than his sisters, and lasted longer.

"Something like that."

"Well," he said thoughtfully, "I don't know much more than what was in the Mythica, but I know how it was done. I had to do something similar a few months ago."
