Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

Since the area with all the informational signs was bound to get a bit clogged up, even more tables and chairs had been set up on the lawn, in a slightly different spot.

[OCD is up! This is the SECOND post for general mingling. Use this post if your browser can't handle the comment load of the first mingling post. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here.]

Robin found a prominent, but out of the way spot to perch with his banjo, and began to serenade the new students and teachers.

"Consider yourself, at home!
Consider yourself, one of the family.
We've taken to you, so strong!
It's clear, we're, going to get along!"

Tim, despite alternately feeling like an old timer, and a punk kid, was still reveling in being back.

The school looked a little different though for some reason.

Now Shilo was really, really confused. Singing frogs? Where the hell had she gotten herself? Was she hallucinating?

"Hi!" Robin waved. "Welcome to Fandom! My name's Robin, what's yours?"

Blair watched the crowd and kept her eye out for anyone else who might be worth her time.

Alex was still around because he had nothing better to do and he didn't need to deal with his dunce of a roommate so soon after meeting him.

Plus, the food wasn't bad.

Hannibal, now sans shirt, was still around. Picnics were fast approaching parties on his list of 'fun things to go to at Fandom' list.

Riggins was still shirtless, his jersey flung over his shoulder and was now at the point where he had enough alcohol to be in a damned good mood. It was a picnic miracle.

Tahiri hadn't run into anyone new from her world yet, or anyone who claimed to be related to her, or anything like that. This was a relief -- but she was still keeping a wary eye out as she wandered the picnic -- it was warm enough out, but she had her Jedi robes on today. It seemed like the thing to do.

No shoes, though. Duh.

Jon was sitting on a picnic table, watching everyone with two plates of food, but no Jell-o. It sort of reminded him of a few festivals on planets whose names he never bothered to remember.

Effy was actually still about, miracle of miracles.

Still not mingling, as such, but she was a little more central, and actually eating something, since she'd skipped out on breakfast on her flight.

Angela was still carrying her shirt around, thanks to her deal with Hannibal, but a slightly reduced number of layers was not about to stop her from hanging around and chatting to people.

Not even a little.

Chuck felt he was worth Blair's time. Which would be why he recognized her from behind (yeah, you don't forget an ass like that) he sidled up beside her for a chat.

And, yes, that was his hand sliding across her lower back. Like he could resist that.

"Having fun?"

Blair was ready to deck whoever was touching her until she heard Chuck's voice. "So far. So many new people, so little time."

"Find anybody worth corrupting yet?" Chuck asked, sliding his hand all the way around to her waist and keeping it there. An unconscious possessive warning to the new kids? Maybe.

"I like this school." Leda smirked.

Diana was still lurking around the edges, but now she had taken to feeding Samuel scraps of food.

Blair could've shoved Chuck's hand away but that would've just brought up a whole argument that would waste time that was better spent on assessing the newbies.

At least that was her story and she was sticking to it.

"It's early," Blair said. She looked wistful. "I miss the days when I could get dossiers on everyone in advance. It saved so much time."

"So do I," he agreed with a grin. "Doesn't get any better than getting some sun during a school sanctioned event."

Brooke was hanging out with a drink, happy to keep an eye out for all the hot impressionable newbies. She loved this time of year. It was like Christmas, but with better weather and potential shirtlessness.

Zayne wandered over to the picnic, watching for any more Jedi. What? It was an entirely reasonable thing for him to expect.

But even if he couldn't find any, there were still other new people to meet.

"I'm sure you'll be able to con the people in the office one of these days," Chuck said with a smirk. "Until then we'll have to make do with our innate ability to weed out the people worth our time from the sea of losers."

"If we have to be old-fashioned," Blair allowed. "Though I do miss the efficiency."
