Since the area with all the informational signs was bound to get a bit clogged up, even more tables and chairs had been set up on the lawn, in a slightly different spot.

Like most people, Chie was all over the food. She would only say she was really hungry today, but mostly, she just liked food in general. So, with a plate full of mostly barbecue (it looked so good, what else could she say?), she decided to hang around the area and perhaps people watch a bit, as well as see what sorts of things happened around here.

"Hey, there!" Turtle waved to the new girl. "Enjoying the food?"

Obviously, Turtle. But, whatever, it was a good conversation starter, especially since, hi, welcome, blah blah blah got old after a little while.

"You bet'cha," Chie replied enthusiastically. "I hope they do this often, because I'll bet this never gets old."

Turtle chuckled a little. "Unfortunately, welcome picnics only come around when there are people to welcome, but there's never any shortage of good food. Even the cafeteria food's not that bad, if you can believe it."

"I'm Turtle, by the way," she said, smiling and offering a hand.

"My name's Chie." She took Turtle's hand to shake. "S'nice to meet... Or maybe I should assume that part is a given, otherwise I think I'll be saying that a lot."

Turtle smiled a little. "Yeah, mostly everyone here's pretty cool. There was this one guy who was a total jerkface, but he's gone for the summer, anyway, so yay for that!"

"Eh, there's always that one guy..." People were people, no matter where you went. She figured even here wouldn't be any different. "But that's one less jerkface to worry about."

"Are you new too?" Jennifer asked the girl. It seemed a good greeting, today.

"I think we all have fellow-new person radar," Jennifer said. "I'm Jennifer. Jennifer Walters."

"Think you might be right there. 'Specially when there's that 'hey, that person looks kinda lost or confused' aura about them." Chie didn't doubt she had it; everything was new to her. "Oh, I'm Chie Satonaka."

"Nice to meet you," Jennifer said. "I think we're all a little confused. This place is... way beyond everything I expected."

"You... you're not lying to me, right?" She was new, too, so the likelihood of that was low, or maybe she caught wind of all these things and decided to spread them around herself and... Or, maybe not. Argh. "I, um, okay. I'm just going to roll with this for now."
