Ethics [Tuesday, April 7, 2nd period]

When the Ethics students arrived, they'd notice a number of tables in the room, all holding nests of Woklings.

"Today we talk about lust," he said. "Or rather, the unintended consequences that can happen when you take action without precautions."

He smiled. "I don't think you'll actually make an Ewok, no, but droid babies have been done to death." He also thought that the students might need something that looked a little like giant teddy bears this week. He wouldn't say that though, for fear of tarnishing his reputation. These are sentient creatures from the forest moon of Endor." He then went on to explain what Ewoks eat (other than Han Solo), how much they slept (not much), and general care of the species. "If any of these are neglected or set on fire, the island will not be big enough for you to escape from me," he said darkly. He held up a pamphlet of Ewok to English translations. "The Woklings are young, but they do know some language. I've also made certain to get their names from the Chief this time. Please listen carefully as your names and then their names are called."

He glanced down at his notes. "Oh, I also realize that this is Prom weekend. If you are attending the dance, please arrange for babysitting."

Chuck was kind of just staring at the...thing. It looked so freaking gross.

"I'm not touching it without gloves."

Yeah, like people haven't said the same thing to you, Chuck.

"Well, I'm setting up for prom on Friday, so you're going to have to either watch him or find another sitter," Joan said.

Chuck gave her a Look. "Can't we just leave it in a cardboard box with some lettuce or something?"

"I'm pretty sure we'd fail if we did that," Joan said.

Chuck groaned. "Fine, I'll find a sitter. Neither you or I would want to deal with Blair if I told her I'd have to skip the dance to babysit a rat."

"Thank you," Joan said. "I can keep him until them."

She bounced the little Ewok on her lap. "He's so cute!"

"He looks like he smells," Chuck said. Kids he could deal with. Tiny rats? Uh, no.

Joan smirked. "Awwww, Daddy doesn't mean it," she cooed at the baby Ewok, holding him out to Chuck. "Go ahead, give him a hug."

"I am not hugging that thing," he said firmly. Bart didn't hug Chuck as a child, why should the little rat get one?

"Do you really want our son to grow up feeling unloved?" Joan asked.

Yes, she was enjoying tormenting Chuck.

"It'll teach him to man up," Chuck replied. "I don't want a wussy kid anyways."

Joan rolled her eyes. "Real men are allowed to have feelings."

Or so her dad always said.

"I see you're a graduate of the Peter Petrelli School of Wussery," Chuck said, teasing lightly.

"Actually, I learned that from my daddy."

That simply did not compute in Chuck's head. "You must have an...interesting household."

Must be like an episode of Barney or something.

"My dad's a cop," Joan explained.

"That sucks," Chuck said immediately. If his dad was a cop...oh god, Chuck couldn't even think about it.

Joan shrugged. "My dad's a good guy."

"Lucky you," Chuck mumbled. He sighed. "I shouldn't have trouble finding a sitter for Friday. Just leave him with me Thursday night and I'll take care of it."

Joan might be able to hear foreboding music in the background after that sentence.

"Okay, I'll take him until Thursday then," Joan said.

Her foreboding music sensors were clearly on the fritz.
