Extreme Physical Education | Wednesday | Period 1

Today, Fraser wasn't in uniform. He was dressed in light and loose clothing which might have given the class a clue as to what kind of activity they'd be doing.

"Today," he started, "we're going to be taking a look at a sport called sandboarding. In the simplest terms, think of snowboarding but with sand dunes instead of snow. For some, it involves riding across or down a dune while standing with both feet strapped to a board, while others use a board with no binding. In here, we're all going to have our feet strapped to a board. There's no need to risk injuries while we're trying to have fun."

With the premise give, Fraser retrieved a long board that had been on the floor nearby him. He went into explaining the mechanics of the board so everyone would know how to operate one.

"And really, that's all we need to know. As long as we keep our keep strapped to the board, we shouldn't have any issues with injuries or hard falls."

Fraser got the simulation going and the students would find themselves looking at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in beautiful Colorado. "Let's get started."

Library, Wednesday (2/9)

It was a little bit hard to remain unaware of the holiday coming up, what with all of the island's whimsy this week.

. . . don't ask why that made Gabrielle decide it would be a good idea to head out after her last class for the week and spend the weekend with Xena. Because there was no reason for it to be related to Valentine's Day. At all. Why would there be? It was just that the little flying . . . creatures were making her nostalgic for home, even if she was arguing with them vigorously as she went about her library duties.

"Oh, no. No, no, no, pal, I don't know where you got your information from, but you are not Cupid. I've met Cupid, and you look nothing like a bleached-blond Julius Caesar with wings Karl Urban him, or Bliss for that matter." One of the giggling cherubs raised its bow, and Gabrielle snatched a ruler off the collections desk, brandishing it. "Hey. Hey! You point that thing elsewhere, buddy! I'm not getting poked that way again!"

It was going to be another long shift. If she wasn't severely tempted to go complain at Aphrodite by the end of the day, she'd be surprised.

What NOT To Do In A Fight / Period III / Week 6 (Atreides/Deadpool)

Ghanima had a headache much like her player that was an itch behind the eyes. Therefore, she had not felt the need to argue with Wade on the topic of today's class. Leto had to be up to something somewhere; that was the only time she ever got headaches.

"Movie day!" she said cheerfully, once students had arrived. "With an example of combat so ridiculous, that this program should have been marketed as a comedy."

“And one hot hottie hot hot as the lead,” Deadpool added. “Rrawr. Now I’m gonna get sued by that Kerrigan chick for sexual harassment.”

Or get ripped in half like she was Stryfe.

“Anywho! Enjoy this piece of cinematic gold that is: Superpurple.”

The Science of Psionics, Wednesday

"Psionics are a kind of energy," Kerrigan began. They were in an ordinary classroom again. She had some fabric sitting in front of her, as well as a round device that looked like a large light, and what appeared to be the hilt of a small dagger. "And like all types of energy, it can be harnessed. Last week, we saw some devices that managed to simulate the psionic abilities of your average teep. This week, we're dealing with a few things made to respond to psionic power, and enhance it."

She picked up the bit of fabric. "This comes from a Ghost's hostile environment suit," she said, "it's a polymer blend. The hostile environment suit 'gathers up' psionic energy from particular nerve clusters on your body, and routs it through this fabric. The fabric, which sticks close to your skin, enhances your strength, speed and durability with that energy. Many Ghosts also get this installed--" She patted the round device. "It's a Moebius Reactor. It stores up and increases psionic energy, meaning that with a Moebius Reactor in place, you will have more energy at the ready to use if you need it. As for this..."

She picked up the hilt. A second later, a blade suddenly portruded from it, made of solid psionic energy. "This is a psi-blade," she said. "Back home, they're made by this species called the Protoss. It responds to the user's psionic energy and sipons off a little bit of it to form this blade. Don't touch it - it'll slice you up worse than just about anything."

As soon as she cast the hilt down, the blade vanished.

"Psionics is energy," she repeated. "As strange and ungraspable as it might seem, this power is still quantifiable. You can use it, not just mentally, but physically. Of course, the advantages are greater and easier for teeks, but with the right technology, telepaths can use their own energy to affect the world around them as well. Just a little more like a blunt instrument than a power tool."

She picked up the psi-blade's hilt again. "I'm keeping this, for obvious reasons," she said, "But the rest of you should feel free to study the reactor and the fabric. If you have powers, you're even free to see if they work for you."

Home Ec 6, Period 4, 2/9

"Let's talk about budgeting," Steve said. "Budgets are important. Why? You don't want to run out of money, whether that's a small allowance or what you make at your minimum wage job, or the whole bank." Certain people. "And you probably want to spend your money wisely, rather than on things that don't matter. A budget will help you do that." Steve proceeded to handwavily talk about how budgets work and how they could construct one, even (this might come as a shock to some members of the class) talking about how one could use computer software to keep track of one's monthly budget.

"Now, you don't have to worry about housing just yet, but you may be thinking it's too soon for you to start thinking about retirement. You're teenagers, right? Well. It's never too early to start thinking about saving for retirement. Don't fall into that trap. So, I've provided a sample budget worksheet for you guys to work with. I don't expect you to finish it today; sometimes these decisions are hard and you need to do some research to figure out how much you're actually spending. You can start working on it today, certainly, but your homework for the rest of the week is to figure out a budget and start trying to stick to it. Your assignment for today is to discuss what categories are important to you, that you're willing to spend more on to cut back in other areas."

AV Club [after classes]

Ben had a fistful of arrows in his hand and a really irritated look on his face as he watched the little flying people circle in the air. "Okay, it's not technically audio or visual," he said, "but today we're working on shields. You can either try to come up with one using high technology like the stuff I use at home around ships or you can build one out of metal or wood or--would you stop that?" he demanded, yanking another arrow out of the air.

"Anyway," he said, rolling his eyes. "Try to ignore them. Maybe they'll go away."

Ben was beginning to wonder if the book thing hadn't been all that bad.
