Steve looked horribly embarrassed as he started class today. "I would just like to begin by apologizing to anyone I insulted, in any form, over the weekend. I was, like many of you, not myself, but that doesn't make some of the things I said to people any less reprehensible." He didn't think he was ever going to come to terms with the memory of that person's anger and prejudice. And that had been him. God. "Now. Moving along to our class topic. Last week we talked about pregnancy, this week you're going to participate in a practical exercise. I have here nine five pound bags of flour, one for every two of you, because yes, you have been randomly divided into couples. For the next week, these are your babies. You will carry them everywhere. You can name and decorate them if you like, but do not damage them. I expect the bags returned intact next week. As to how I will know..." Steve picked up one bag and turned the bottom to face the class, revealing his signature. "I'm told these would sell for a pretty penny on eBay in certain realities. Don't even think about it, Mr. Madrox. When I call your names, you can come up and get your 'baby,' and then spend the rest of the period getting acquainted with your new partner in parenting."

"I like Selina, but I can't name a sack of flour that. It's too elegant." Dinah poked it, then hastily withdrew her finger. "Hmm. Kimberly? Kimber? Kim? Kimi. I like Kimi. K-I-M-I. That work?" She frowned it. "Not that I want to get attached or anything. Do you want me to take it today? I'm in 312. You could come by and pick it up tomorrow?"

"Kimi's good, yeah," Alex nodded, smiling lightly. She liked the sound of that. "That works for me. I'm in 301, so I think I can manage that," she chuckled.

"Yay. Kimi has two mommies." Dinah rolled her eyes. "Just like my life, really. Except not," she added hastily. Those headlines had been joking. And messed up! Sheesh.

Alex had to laugh at that. "This could end up being fun, who knows?" As long as her parents weren't around to find out.

"Maybe?" Dinah gave the bag of flour a sardonic glance. But... they could put a little face on it at least. Dinah pulled out a pink highlighter and drew on a mouth. "Got any markers?"

Alex was trying to be optimistic. "Of course," she grinned, pulling out a couple from her bag. What? She liked to doodle in her notes. "I've got blue and green."

"Green it is." Dinah got out a yellow highlighter and drew a spitcurl on top of its... bag? "I dub you Kimi. Flower Child."

Alex used her green highlighter to draw some eyes. "Flower Child." That got a chuckle out of her. "Very cool."

Dinah snickered. "We can figure out what we'll do with her this weekend on Saturday, after the dance? I'm going with Tony, I don't know if you were planning on going..."

Because it belatedly occurs to her that she may have just stuck Alex with babysitting, and that's kind of mean, if she had plans.

"That sounds good, yeah," Alex nodded. She'd totally forgotten about the dance, but she wasn't about to miss it. "I'll be there, definitely."

She was fairly certain they'd figure something out.

Maybe just leave Kimi in a chair nearby, to watch Mommy #1 and Mommy #2 have a good time. Sure. Why not? It's not like anyone would try to get their Flower Child drunk.

Hey, that could work. And really, if someone did? That would just be hilarious, considering bags of flour couldn't get drunk.

Or so they hoped.
