Ethics [Tuesday, February 3, 2nd period]

When the Ethics class arrived in the Danger Shop, they stepped into an entirely different world.

An incredibly dry, hot one. That smelled really bad.

Anakin waved his hand around the room. "Welcome to the embodiment of gluttony," he said, "the palace of a Hutt."

He concentrated on the controls on the far side of the room, and the simulation sprung to life: dozens of beings drinking, eating, and dancing, with all activity centered around a vile slug of a beast laying on the raised dais at the front of the room.

In a place of honor on the wall was a man, face twisted in a silent scream but his features obscured beyond recognition, encased in silver. Anakin ignored it as he walked past to point at the creature on the dais. "That," he said, nose wrinkling in disgust, "is a Hutt. This particular version was named Jabba, one of the most powerful crime lords in the galaxy." A grim smile turned the corners of his mouth up. "At least until he met my children."

He shook his head. "That is neither here nor there. Today is an interactive experience for you, class. Take a good hard look around. See the effects that gluttony can have."

His eyes went flat. "Touch any of the dancing girls and you'll regret it. That's a promise."

Hurley just sort of eyed Jabba from a distance, his stomach sort of unsettled.

This lesson kinda hit close to home, for him.

"This is kind of disturbing," Joan whispered.

Brooke wasn't exactly comfortable here. Seriously, one look at the dancing girls told her that if she had weird-colored skin, she'd probably be the slug guy's type. And that thought was enough to give her nightmares for months on end.

The wall guy might've been kind of hot once upon a time though. Before he was part of a wall.

"Doing okay?" Peter asked.

Tony had to stop and look at the man on the wall. It was a sadistic sculpture and he wondered who the artist was.

The guy in the wall is interesting. Van Helsing can't recall seeing someone encased in a metal and preserved mid-motion before this. Strangely, the slug-creature doesn't seem to bother him all that much.

Dor wandered around the palace and found himself standing in front of something that resembled a fish bowl.

But it wasn't fish inside.

Hmm.

Leto studied this Jabba with some curiosity, and then let his attention shift to the creatures around him. Not the dancing girls - they were clearly slaves - but the loyal servants. Just how strong would their loyalty be?

Triela was watching a different group of the palace's inhabitants. Namely those who were armed. "Security here looks awfully lax," she mused.

Helen wasn't certain why anyone would want to touch the dancing girls. She certainly wasn't going to, nor was she going to eat or drink anything.

Marco studied Jabba for a while. "I've seen uglier aliens." He said and frowned.

K-Mart just stood there with a look of disgust on her face.

This was almost worse than zombies.

Zayne walked around, trying to blend in. Of course, trying to blend in hardly ever worked for Zayne and this time was no different. For one thing, he smelled like he had showered sometime in the past week, unlike some of the beings here.

He stopped by the guy on the wall. He couldn't help but wonder how exactly he ended up there.

Zayne was here and it wasn't terribly difficult to find him. He was the guy who looked like he should fit in relatively well - it was still his galaxy, even if it was a few thousand years off - but absolutely didn't fit in at all.

Temari was there. So maybe she hadn't run into anyone to figure out this honesty thing.

Not that it was terribly different from what she normally said, but...

"Professor Skywalker?" Leto said as he approached him after class. "I met your grandson a few days ago."

"Good morning, professor!" Toby greeted Anakin happily. "I know I'm not in this class but I wanted to interview you for my journalism class!"
