Management Theory [Tuesday, February 3, 4th period]

Yzma, as always, was ready to pace before the class as soon as they all arrived properly attired.

"One of the most important ways to prove your management potential," she overenunciated, "is by planning and correctly pulling off a party!"

She threw her hands into the air. On cue, confetti fell from the sky. She nodded her head. "Today, you will pair up and plan proper party!" She held out a hand. A party hat materialized out of nowhere. "In this hat, there are many suitable party themes. You must come up with the food you will serve, the attire your guests must wear, and most importantly, how to stop losers from attending!" She gazed around at the students. "You have fifteen minutes!"

Nice and reasonable of her.

"The rest of the time you will be working the rope line," which magically appeared in the corner when she pointed to it, full of people who all looked suspiciously like an emperor she used to work for, "explaining to the losers why they aren't on the list."

During a day when many students were compelled to tell the truth. This should be good.

Romeo grabbed an assignment from the hat, but waited for a partner before opening it.

Jamie tried to peer over Romeo's shoulder. "What'd you get?"

"I don't know yet," Romeo pointed out as he unfolded it. "It looks as though I drew ... swingers."

"Well that figures," Jamie said scratching his head. "So should we get a bowl and have everyone throw their room keys in or should I make enough dupes to be a swing band?"

Mac snagged a topic from the hat, eying the piece of paper warily as she waited for a partner.

"Don't hire Chad as a bouncer," Turtle said easily and freely as she approached Mac. "He'll only let the losers in. Want to partner up, Mac?"

Re: Pair Up and Pick a Party Theme!

Mac nodded a yes to the partnering idea. "Speaking from personal experience?" she assumed that was the case.

"I was hosting a birthday party for a guy I really liked," the story just seemed to roll off of Turtle's tongue without even thinking about it, "so it was a really big, important deal because this guy was being a total idiot about the fact that, hello, I liked him, he should ask me out already! But it was one of those weekends where everyone turns all little? Only it was just the adults. And so I thought to myself, 'well, hey, Chad's a big, strong guy, he can keep all the stupid little kids out from ruining my chances with Tannim,' but, nooooo, turns out the guy's a giant softie around little kids and he let a ton of them in. And one of them, wee little Mister Deadpool, goes right up to Tannim and headbutts him in the crotch! No wonder he never ended up asking me out!"

Turtle blinked a little, because she hadn't really intended to tell Mac that entire story, but, well, there it was.

Helen took a slip of paper from the hat, but waited for a partner to see what it was.

"Hello, Helen!" Agnes greeted her. "Want to pair up? Frankly, the whole idea sounds pretty stupid, to me."

Helen nodded. "I don't see the point of anything in this class," she admitted.

"Neither do I," Agnes admitted with a smile. "But I'm learning quite a lot anyway -- just not exactly what Ms. Yzma is trying to teach." She looked down at the slip of paper in Helen's hand. "So, what disaster of a party type are we going to have to plan?"

Dōjima grabbed a slip while she waited for a partner, her face lighting up as she read their assignment.

It was a bit cold for an outdoor pool party, unless they went with a hot spring theme, but she could make it work.

"Hey," Eric said, giving a little half-wave. "Want to work together?"

If there's one thing Eric had experience with it, it was... okay, not planning parties, but he'd watched his mother do it enough times as he was growing up, he was sure he could handle it.

"Haaaaaaaai!" Dōjima said, tossing him a small salute. "Eric, right? It says 'pool party', so we could either go the traditional route, or do billiards. Got a preference?"

Re: Pair Up and Pick a Party Theme!

[identity profile] notasuiciderisk.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, and you're Dōjima, right?" Eric considered for a moment. "Well, that depends. We get to choose the party attire, right? Traditional route means lots of shirtless guys." He paused. "I swear I didn't actually mean to say that out loud."

Liir grabbed a piece of paper and wondered what he might get. He didn't want to look, though, without a partner.

Hinata didn't know if he was mad at her or not after ignoring her on Thursday, but she figured that, if he was, then she would just have to try someone else.

"I d-don't suppose you have a partner?"

Re: Pair Up and Pick a Party Theme!

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
He shook his head quickly.

"No partner. Would you, er, care to open it up for us, then?"

Re: Pair Up and Pick a Party Theme!

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Hinata held up one hand to ward off that idea.

"No t-thank you," she said, "you g-go ahead. That w-way, if it's something t-terribly uncomfortable to do it c-cannot be put on my h-head."

...

Hinata flushed madly. That last part was not supposed to have been said out loud.

"Oooh, sounds like fun," Rikku bounced. "You took pictures of my boobs once, too. I haven't looked at the piece of paper yet. Let's!"

Okay, she hadn't meant to say all of that out loud, exactly. What was going on?

"I remember that, but I was trying to be polite by not bringing it up," Jenny said. "But then I usually fail at polite, so I don't know why I bothered. Do you want to look at it?"
