Shop Class still accepting Students.

MacGyver pushes a large pallet of crates through the hallway to the Shop classroom.

The crates are marked with a return address of:

S.Summers
Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters
1407 Graymalkin Lane
Salem Center, NY 12865

On top of the crates is a receipt from PayPal from a recent E-bay purchase. The receipt notes something about "Shi'ar Technology".

Mac checks to make sure the Sign-up Sheet is still posted and goes to work unpacking the crates and starting to install the equipment.

Anybody walking by might hear Mac cursing over the fact that the Owner's manual does not have an English translation.

"That's it! Ok, we need to find six more of those, and three of these, and eight of these," she says, pointing to the pictures in the diagram. "Then we can start putting together the framework."

Mac pulls out the "six of those" and arranges them on the diagram. "So what exactly was your old school like and what made you decide to move here? By the way... that is a dragon right?"

"Got it." Sam nodded and began hunting through the pile, sorting similar looking things into smaller piles as she went.

Eventually, there were three piles of things that looked like the pictures Kitty had pointed out. "I think that's it. Now what?"

Mac checks the shi'ar dictionary again.

"If I'm reading this right we're supposed to do the hokey pokey and turn ourselves around. This thing is worthless."

Sam grins and notices that maybe he's more like Jack than she thought. "Or, maybe, just maybe, you're reading it wrong."

Kitty laughs. "This piece goes into that one, like this," she demonstrates. "And then we link them all together. You guys want to start putting that together while I try and figure out the motherboard?"

Angelus passes by in the hallway when he spots something out of the corner of his eye.

He retraces his steps and looks in the door.

He plasters a friendly smile on his face. "Hey... Kitty, right?"

"Hey, Angelus," Kitty waves. "Wanna help? We could use an extra pair of hands."

"Don't know much about..." Angelus frowned as he walked into the room and surveyed everything around them. "Uh, this. But if you need strength, sure." He gave Kitty a smile. "Love to."

"If you can follow instructions, you can help," Kitty says cheerfully. "So, what time period are you, uh, from? Or does it work like that? I haven't met many vampires," she adds apologetically.

::Lockheed, who had settled down to rest on an nearby desk, raises his head and glares at Angelus.::

"Hard to say, actually," Angelus gave the little dragon wide berth. He walked over to Kitty, standing ready to lend a hand like the helpful fellow student he was. "I was born in 1753. But I lived through 1999. But this dimension is 2005. Combine all that with a little trip to hell where nobody knows how long I was down there - more than a day, I can tell you that much - and for all I know I'm a thousand. But - " he gave Kitty a grin " - 250 sounds like a nice round number. I've been going with that."

Mac hands Angelus a roll of duct tape. "250 years? Great. You should know how to use duct tape. Start strapping down those structs over there if you don't have any fasteners"

Angelus looked at the tape, looked at Mac, looked at the chaos, looked at Mac again. "And structs would be...?"

Sam began to do as instructed, not one to argue with someone who knew what she was doing. "Ooh, there's a motherboard?" She grinned at Kitty and asked, "Is there any chance you could explain what you're doing sometime later?"

"The basic concepts are similar to Earth technology, except way more advanced. Quantum physics to them are what, like, rotary phones are to us. They know about it, but they've gone way beyond." Kitty picks up a board with hundreds of tiny circuits. "And, no, I can't explain how they do it, but I'm familiar with the hardware."

"Oh, okay," she said, playing 'dumb' about aliens and quantum physics-related academic snobbery from alien races. Note to self--once it's working, try and figure out the theory behind it. May be useful.

Mac looks at the dictionary again and the symbols. He throws the book back on the desk.

"Nope. It's the book. Not me. And ZOMG! Jack and I are completely different! *Fluffs Mullet*

"All right Kitty... so I guess we then take these things and pair them together with those other things. Right?"

Mac pulls out his duct tape.

"Let's get started."

As soon as she's sure Mac isn't looking, she rolls her eyes at Kitty in the universal sign for "Boys!"

If she ends up covered in duct tape...well, it wouldn't be the first time she's going to be a little annoyed.

Kitty smiles at Sam. "Just keep the duct tape away from the blue circuits," she advises. "It interacts badly. Don't ask how I know."

Mac starts assembling the unit with a mixture of parts and some duct tape ingenuity.

"Don't think I didn't see that eye roll Carter! Class may not have started yet, but that doesn't mean I can't hand out detention." Mac says lightheartedly.

Damn, busted. What, does the man have eyes in the back of his head? Maybe that's what all the hair's for...

Sam grins, sheepishly. "Yessir. Sorry about that."

"This isn't the military Carter. I don't stand on titles around here, so if you call me anything call me MacGyver or Mac."

MacGyver holds up a thing-a-ma-bob and checks the diagrams. "This goes with these parts over here right?"

Yes, sir. Damn it. "Okay...but my dad was Air Force, so it might take me a few tries. It's kind of ingrained."

She studies the part. "Not sure--ask Kitty, she seems to be in charge."

Kitty checks the diagram. "Yeah, that's it," she says encouragingly.

"Got it." She knows better than to challenge the face of experience when it comes to technical stuff that "interacts badly."
