Shop Class still accepting Students.

MacGyver pushes a large pallet of crates through the hallway to the Shop classroom.

The crates are marked with a return address of:

S.Summers
Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters
1407 Graymalkin Lane
Salem Center, NY 12865

On top of the crates is a receipt from PayPal from a recent E-bay purchase. The receipt notes something about "Shi'ar Technology".

Mac checks to make sure the Sign-up Sheet is still posted and goes to work unpacking the crates and starting to install the equipment.

Anybody walking by might hear Mac cursing over the fact that the Owner's manual does not have an English translation.

Kitty smiles at Sam. "Just keep the duct tape away from the blue circuits," she advises. "It interacts badly. Don't ask how I know."

Mac starts assembling the unit with a mixture of parts and some duct tape ingenuity.

"Don't think I didn't see that eye roll Carter! Class may not have started yet, but that doesn't mean I can't hand out detention." Mac says lightheartedly.

Damn, busted. What, does the man have eyes in the back of his head? Maybe that's what all the hair's for...

Sam grins, sheepishly. "Yessir. Sorry about that."

"This isn't the military Carter. I don't stand on titles around here, so if you call me anything call me MacGyver or Mac."

MacGyver holds up a thing-a-ma-bob and checks the diagrams. "This goes with these parts over here right?"

~~Yes, sir. Damn it.~~ "Okay...but my dad was Air Force, so it might take me a few tries. It's kind of ingrained."

She studies the part. "Not sure--ask Kitty, she seems to be in charge."

Kitty checks the diagram. "Yeah, that's it," she says encouragingly.

Mac starts to fasten the thing-a-ma-bob onto the other parts but notices that it is missing a seal.

"Hey Carter! Got any gum?"

Sam searched her pockets, then went to search through her messenger bag. "Nope, sorry. Do you have any hot glue?"

"If I had hot glue would I ask for gum? Kitty! You got a hot glue gun or a stick of gum?"

Mac searches around and finds some silly putty.

"Oh hey! Never mind this will work perfectly!"

Mac puts in the putty and the part fits together perfectly.

"We'll need a blowtorch for those overhanging emitters. Kitty? I don't suppose your dragon can do a low controlled burn?"

"He can, actually. Lockheed? Wanna help?"

::Lockheed stands up, stretches, and flies over to Mac.::

Mac holds the emitter up against one of the overhanging beams and looks toward the dragon.

"Okay, we just need a slow hot burn against these four points to connect it with the beam. Be careful of the hair," said Mac motioning to the mullet.

::Lockheed flies up to the beam and exhales a small, very hot blast at each point.::

"Excellent. Let's get the rest up."

Mac continues down the line with Lockheed with the rest of the emitters.

"How we doing on that circuit board Kitty? How much longer to get it hooked up to the control interface?"

[OOC: Sorry to God-Mod Lockheed but this could take days.]

"Give me twenty minutes or so," Kitty says. "The connections are kinda delicate."

[ooc: go ahead and puppet Lockheed as needed.]

After getting the emitters up. Mac starts connecting some of the cabling up, checking with the diagram from time to time.

"Carter and... you with the hair! Are you done with those struts yet?"

[OOC: Thanks. Nice dragon. Good dragon.]

Sam turned around quickly at the voice of command, ~~which wasn't at all like Jack's~~. "We're on the last one, ~~sir~~."

~~Damn it! I'm not Jack! Watch your subtext young lady!~~

Mac connects the wiring to the back of the control panel using some solder and some help from Lockheed. *good dragon* *nice dragon*

"Good. We're almost done here. Kitty? How we doing?"

~~What? I said it wasn't at all like Jack's! And your hair's...fluffier.~~

"Oh, wait," Kitty says. She jumps up, but she's surrounded by half-constructed pieces of the machine. She phases through the parts surrounding her and finds the box it came in. Digging through it, she pulls out a small tin. "Shi'ar glue," she says, giving it to Mac.

Mac notices the phasing ability and cocks an eyebrow. "Well that's a handy talent," he says taking the glue. "You some kind of magical person?"

[OOC: Excalibur Kitty! Woot!]

"I'm a mutant," Kitty explains. "It's not magic, just something in my genes."

Mac nods in sudden understanding. "Ahhh... 'Gifted Youngsters' Now it makes sense. Any other alumni going to school here? I may be able to arrange some time for you guys to use the equipment if Dean Bristow allows it."

"There's others, but not from the same timeline. It's kinda weird to explain. But I'd love to use this equipment sometime! I'm sure all my physical training's gotten rusty since I left Xavier's," Kitty says.

"Got it." She knows better than to challenge the face of experience when it comes to technical stuff that "interacts badly."
