Shop Class still accepting Students.

MacGyver pushes a large pallet of crates through the hallway to the Shop classroom.

The crates are marked with a return address of:

S.Summers
Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters
1407 Graymalkin Lane
Salem Center, NY 12865

On top of the crates is a receipt from PayPal from a recent E-bay purchase. The receipt notes something about "Shi'ar Technology".

Mac checks to make sure the Sign-up Sheet is still posted and goes to work unpacking the crates and starting to install the equipment.

Anybody walking by might hear Mac cursing over the fact that the Owner's manual does not have an English translation.

Kitty laughs. "This piece goes into that one, like this," she demonstrates. "And then we link them all together. You guys want to start putting that together while I try and figure out the motherboard?"

Angelus passes by in the hallway when he spots something out of the corner of his eye.

He retraces his steps and looks in the door.

He plasters a friendly smile on his face. "Hey... Kitty, right?"

"Hey, Angelus," Kitty waves. "Wanna help? We could use an extra pair of hands."

"Don't know much about..." Angelus frowned as he walked into the room and surveyed everything around them. "Uh, this. But if you need strength, sure." He gave Kitty a smile. "Love to."

"If you can follow instructions, you can help," Kitty says cheerfully. "So, what time period are you, uh, from? Or does it work like that? I haven't met many vampires," she adds apologetically.

::Lockheed, who had settled down to rest on an nearby desk, raises his head and glares at Angelus.::

"Hard to say, actually," Angelus gave the little dragon wide berth. He walked over to Kitty, standing ready to lend a hand like the helpful fellow student he was. "I was born in 1753. But I lived through 1999. But this dimension is 2005. Combine all that with a little trip to hell where nobody knows how long I was down there - more than a day, I can tell you that much - and for all I know I'm a thousand. But - " he gave Kitty a grin " - 250 sounds like a nice round number. I've been going with that."

Mac hands Angelus a roll of duct tape. "250 years? Great. You should know how to use duct tape. Start strapping down those structs over there if you don't have any fasteners"

Angelus looked at the tape, looked at Mac, looked at the chaos, looked at Mac again. "And structs would be...?"

Sam eyes the vampire warily, but decides that since he's not actively eating people, she's not going to worry about it. She points, "Those things, over there."

"Gotcha," Angelus carefully steps over the parts on the floor so that he can get a better position to apply the tape. "Nice seeing you, Sam. Funny how we live right across the hall and it's like we never bump into each other, huh?"

"Yeah, it's a little weird, actually. I spend a lot of time on the second floor, though, so maybe it's not that strange. Plus, I was really busy last week."

Since her hands are free, she crouches down to hold the two pieces in place so he can apply the tape.

"What was up last week?" Angelus asked. He applied the tape with a touch that was rather deft for someone who, seconds earlier, had been acting as though he'd never seen duct tape before.

"Oh, you know--classes, meeting my date, Pre-Homecoming stuff, getting the parasitic alien who was seducing all the men on campus and making them her butt-monkeys out of my best friend," she said, shrugging, "the usual. I'm sorry about the election results--you put a lot of hard work into the campaign and really helped raise the level of discourse and if Parker ever finds out about this conversation, I may be eviscerated. I'll have her save you the entrails."

"Awh heck," Angelus shrugged. "I just wanted the best student to win. I wasn't officially on anybody's campaign. I rooted for my friends, of course, but I couldn't be happier about the results." Angelus's smile was wide and full of promise. "Honest."

Sam smiled back, somewhat relieved. "No, I understand. Actually, I'm happiest that I managed to stay out of the entire electoral process--I'm not at all good at politics."

"Me neither," Angelus gave a sheepish look. "I don't mind telling you I had no idea what was going on half the time. Good thing we've got students like Phoebe who don't mind rolling up their sleeves and taking that kind of thing on."

Sam raised a skeptical eyebrow. That wasn't what she'd heard from Parker. According to her, this was the guy with his finger on the pulse of the school (no pun intended). "Yeah, I really think Phoebe's going to be great for the school. Very approachable and committed to getting things done."

"I've noticed that about her," Angelus said. "I was really impressed with how she handled the aftermath of that horrible attack ad. Speaking as one of the non-human students, it really meant a lot."

"I don't know her as well as I'd like, unfortunately, but my friend Liz has lots of good things to say about her. Actually, and I'm embarrassed to admit this, I never even saw the attack ad, so I can't weigh in on all the controversy. It makes me feel a little bit out of the loop."

"Probably for the best," Angelus assured her. "It tried to paint my friend Bel as being evil just because he's part demon. How is that a positive message in this school?"

"Are there non-evil type demons? I don't know anything about this area of the school's weirdness, so it's an honest question."

She sighed, "But, if there are non-evil demons, it's not fair to paint your friend as one just because he happens to be a demon. That would be like saying all clones are evil."

"Of course there are," Angelus put his hand against his chest. "Heck, take me for instance. It's just like humans: some are jerks and some are nice. It's not being human that makes you good, it's what you do."

Sam began to do as instructed, not one to argue with someone who knew what she was doing. "Ooh, there's a motherboard?" She grinned at Kitty and asked, "Is there any chance you could explain what you're doing sometime later?"

"The basic concepts are similar to Earth technology, except way more advanced. Quantum physics to them are what, like, rotary phones are to us. They know about it, but they've gone way beyond." Kitty picks up a board with hundreds of tiny circuits. "And, no, I can't explain how they do it, but I'm familiar with the hardware."

"Oh, okay," she said, playing 'dumb' about aliens and quantum physics-related academic snobbery from alien races. Note to self--once it's working, try and figure out the theory behind it. May be useful.
