Sam had managed to get real coffee today, so he wasn't quite as annoyed by the fact that he was slowly running out of clean clothes. In order to make sure he didn't end up with nothing to wear, he'd started rationing his clean clothes and ~~*gasp*~~ was only wearing a t-shirt and jeans today. It felt strange to only be in one layer, but he could deal for the time being.

"Seems to be." He smirked. "He answered the phone like some representative for Hunters R Us. Seems to be getting right into it."

Sam laughed. "I'm sure Bobby's having a great time dealing with him."

"Apparently there's been lots of obstacle courses through the scrapyard."

Sam couldn't help but imagine Bobby setting something like that up, and it made him laugh even more. "Okay, so he really is having fun with Alec. That's awesome."

"Yeah. Alec seems to be settled right in. And with Bobby as a teacher, he's going to be a helluva hunter by the time I graduate here."

The evil G-word made Sam's smile falter a little, but he tried to cover it. "He might be good enough that I really will trust him to watch your back," he said.

"Hey, he exorcised your ass," Dean said.

"He hit me with a poker," Sam replied. "That's not the same as a full exorcism."

"It got the job done, didn't it? And after a few months with Bobby, I'll be surprised if he can't rattle off five different exorcisms from memory."

"True. Bobby probably did start him with the basics," Sam said. "For all that I joke, I know you guys will make good partners."

"Yeah and if it keeps him from going back to play dodge 'em with Manticore, all the better." He gave Sammy a grin. "And if you change your mind about college, you know you can always join us."

"I wouldn't want to be your third wheel," Sam said, shrugging.

"Dude. You're my brother. You'd never be a third wheel."

"I would be if you and Alec were together," Sam replied.

"Really, no," Dean said. "I'd never let that happen."

"Maybe," Sam said, still sounding uncertain. "I still think it's cool that you're okay with me thinking about college."

"Yeah well..." Dean shrugged. "When haven't I tried to give you what you wanted?"

"Never," Sam said with a smile. "But usually what I want isn't something that completely goes against what you and Dad want. At least, I know better than to ask."

"Dad's just always wanted to keep us safe," Dean said.

"I know. Safe and secure, and college is kind of the opposite of that," Sam said. "But you want me to be safe too. And you're still sort of okay with college."

"Well, most people we know are going... and some of them have the same kind of demon magnet problems that we do," Dean pointed out.

"That I do," Sam corrected. "I'm the demon magnet. You just get caught in the crossfire."

"Hey, I've pissed off my share of demons too, y'know."

"Not as many as I have. At least, that's what it feels like."

"Maybe I'm just not trying hard enough then," Dean said. "And do you really want to convince me that you're the ultimate demon magnet when you're trying to reassure me you'll be fine at college?"
