Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

If anyone had hoped for good weather for the picnic, their wish had been granted as the day turned out to be sunny and warm. Everything had been cleaned up, spiffed up and bedazzled dazzled made as perfect as possible for the new arrivals. They deserved at least a few moments of pleasantness before the weirdness started to sink in.

May whatever deity they believed in help them now.

As usual, there were long tables set up with food and drinks, a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students. With everything in place, the picnic was ready to begin.

[OCD is up!! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

Hammer swaggered over when he figured out which one was his 'teaching buddy.' "Hi!" he crowed, offering one giant, gloved hand. "I'm...Captain Hammer."

Yes, he just paused for dramatic effect.

And then posed.

"I don't need to practice," he informed him smoothly. "I'm just naturally like this."

"Oh, good," he said, not even fazed. Mostly because he didn't get it. "I'll be sure to keep that in mind when teaching. Use small words." Not that he knew many big ones.

"What if they're evil?"

Sadly, he was perfectly serious.

Hammer just looked utterly baffled. "...why not?"

"Oooh, detention." Verbal abuse didn't seem like the best option. He couldn't usually think of snappy comebacks until about ten minutes later.

"You! With the cheap Spider-Man knock-off!" Jonah yelled. "What, you idolize that menace but you can't even be bothered to pick up a more accurate knockoff? That thing doesn't even have webs on it. If you paid more than ten bucks for it, you should sue."

"No, but I could guess how easy it is to walk into Target in October and walk out looking like a menace who's too cheap to pay for the details on the costume," Jonah said. "And my hair is a work of art! You could set a glass on it, that's how flat it's cut up top."

"Osborn?" Jonah asked. "That guy needed to learn how to use a comb correctly."

"Why would a storm have hair?" Jonah asked. "You're slipping into crazytalk."

"What's an Ororo. And America has a President, not a Queen," Jonah said. "Why am I still talking to a crazy person anyway. I have better things to do than this. Like anything else."

"People love to read about Spider-Man's criminal behavior. It sells newspapers," Jonah said. "Who's this Stark guy anyway? I'll tell you who: someone who isn't nearly the menace Spider-Man is."
