Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

If anyone had hoped for good weather for the picnic, their wish had been granted as the day turned out to be sunny and warm. Everything had been cleaned up, spiffed up and bedazzled dazzled made as perfect as possible for the new arrivals. They deserved at least a few moments of pleasantness before the weirdness started to sink in.

May whatever deity they believed in help them now.

As usual, there were long tables set up with food and drinks, a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students. With everything in place, the picnic was ready to begin.

[OCD is up!! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

Angela grabbed a nametag, adding a little of her own decoration (in the form of some little flowers) to the edges, and loitered where she hoped her new little sibling could find her.

The list didn't give her a name to look for, so she just had to hope she was noticeable enough.

Toby loved newbie day. The weather was perfect, he could go shirtless without any stares, and he had the most fantastic pink sparkling lotion coating his buff chest. The shine was amazing.

Oh, and he had a sign with huge, colorful letters calling out for his sibling, Claudia.

And a nametag stuck to his pec. What? It was required.

It was a little sad to think that this was going to be the last little sibling Chad would collect, but he didn't let that deter him from the usual attempts to find his. There was a sign, of course, with the name Arthur Pendragon scrawled across it, easy to spot since Chad could hold it up pretty well above the crowd if he had to.

Arthur Pendragon. Why did that name seem kind of familiar? Especially since Chad was certain he didn't know any Arthurs.

Well, there was that one teacher...

...wait, no. That was Alfred.

...

Never mind. He was just going to keep looking for an Arthur-type looking personage.

Ronon was there for the food.

And to deal with the whole teaching buddy thing. But mostly the food.

He liked the giant turkey legs a lot.

Chad knew, since he was down a roommate for a while, that there was always the possibility that the spot might be filled in. That still didn't seem to keep him from being a little surprised to see that, this time, it actually had been.

"Oh," he said, tilting his head at the list.

And then glanced around, trying to spot someone with the nametag of Dinah Lance.

Even if any attempts to visualize what Dinah Lance might look like resulted in imagining Alice's cat.

Prince Edward didn't know how he was here, he just knew he had to find Giselle!

Were they expecting him, these foul peasants who took his one true love? Welllllll, he would dispatch them! Every single one!

"Come forth peasant!" he yelled to no one specifically, standing close to the one who was to be his fake big sister. Not that he knew that. Yet. "I am here, ah-hah! I require assistance in this foul place!"

At least this castle they'd wound up with hadn't been as shabby as Arthur had expected. It was a small comfort amongst the bizarre behaviour of most of the locals, as well as the decorations they'd put up, but he supposed he'd let that slide.

He roamed the grounds for several solid minutes before he caught the sign from the corner of his eyes. He squinted in an attempt to make out the scrawl. Was that his name?

His father must have sent word.

Long strides took him to the servant holding it. He perched one hand on his hip. "Whoever did that calligraphy might as well cease trying," he said.

Adora had happily rejoined her white horse, Spirit when the transport from the Portal drop had arrived. She was surprised to find a nametag for herself that read Princess Adora, but still attached it to her tight clothing without edit before she created a little nametag for Spirit and stuck it to his golden mane.

Dean had put on his nametag and was looking around for someone who looked like an Emmett.

Armour polished and undented to the best of its capacity (which wasn't much) and Boo clinging to his shoulders with the urge to just scurry down into the safety of his pouch at a second's notice, Minsc rubbed his big hands together eagerly at the sight of all the new people. He was particularly eager to find the fellow who he was supposed to help settle into teaching here, keeping an eye out for the certain-to-be-distinguished Captain Nathan Algren.

"OoHoo! I have a rooom! Two hundred and fifteen!" Prince Edward exclaimed in amazement.

Chad took a moment to consider the criticism, lowering the sign to have a look.

"My penmenship's better in Japanese," he explained, shrugging his massive shoulders a little. "Are you Arthur?"

The horse was laughing. This was never a good sign.

"Don't laugh, Spirit, it's not funny," Adora complained. "This Prince Dor of Xanth could hear and think me completely unfit as a roommate. Just because I've never shared a room before doesn't mean I'm not capable now. I've camped out with the other Rebels enough that sharing shouldn't be too much trouble."

Japanese?

Well, at least he was literate, Arthur supposed. Not that that meant much. Merlin was, and he was frequently an idiot. "I am," he agreed, "I take it word has been sent. Good. I take it you'll be escorting me to quarters?"

Cal had glanced at the roommate list with a hope that he knew he should have figured was futile. Alex moving out was too good to be true, really, so he knew he shouldn't have been too disappointed to realize that his spot had already been filled.

But he was. He groaned a little, shoulders slagging. "Ugh."

"What kind of name is Merlin, anyway?" he muttered.

"I...could," Chad said. "Did you need help? I'm Chad; I'm your Big Brother here. I'm here to help you get settled and adjust to Fandom. If you have any problems or questions, I'm the guy you come to."

These were almost routine for Fraser now. He was out, decked in full uniform, smiling as he wandered.

Something had gotten smudged on Priestly's name tag, completely obscuring his first name.

He was looking a little proud of himself for that one.

While she could have left Grace with John, Zoe had decided to bring her to the picnic, at least for a little while. For the moment, they were sitting a at a table, where Zoe was breaking down food into Grace-sized bits.

Hannibal didn't know what kind of name Merlin was but hey, he could relate. He was a Hannibal, after all.

So, he stuck his nametag to his shirt and wandered around.
