Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

If anyone had hoped for good weather for the picnic, their wish had been granted as the day turned out to be sunny and warm. Everything had been cleaned up, spiffed up and ~~bedazzled~~ ~~dazzled~~ made as perfect as possible for the new arrivals. They deserved at least a few moments of pleasantness before the weirdness started to sink in.

May whatever deity they believed in help them now.

As usual, there were long tables set up with food and drinks, a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students. With everything in place, the picnic was ready to begin.

"Osborn?" Jonah asked. "That guy needed to learn how to use a comb correctly."

"Well, that's a given," Deadpool replied, perfectly conversational. "At least it's not as bad as Storm's mohawk, though."

"Why would a storm have hair?" Jonah asked. "You're slipping into crazytalk."

"Fine, fine. Queen Ororo. Happy? Geeze, you all and your need to name people properly."

"What's an Ororo. And America has a President, not a Queen," Jonah said. "Why am I still talking to a crazy person anyway. I have better things to do than this. Like anything else."

"Well, duh. She's the queen of Wakanda." His third favorite fictional country. "And what do you need to do? Write more scathing editorials on the Spider-man menace? Get new material, man. Try Tony Stark's drinking problem. That's less of a dead horse to beat."

"People love to read about Spider-Man's criminal behavior. It sells newspapers," Jonah said. "Who's this Stark guy anyway? I'll tell you who: someone who isn't nearly the menace Spider-Man is."

"No, your crazy sells papers," Deadpool replied. "And, c'mon. I'm not even a white hat and even I admit he's not a menace! Sure, his quips are annoying and I do them so much better. And maybe the lil' one here wasn't so bad, but that's hardly the point!"

A beat.

"Wait, you don't know Stark?"

"Nope. But a white hat couldn't hurt your costume. Spider-Man doesn't have one, so it might actually make you look less like a dollar store retread," Jonah said.

"Hey, this is an expensive outfit!"

"Sure it is," Jonah said. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a bill. "Here, just in case you need a spare. Wait, no, that's a five." He put that bill back and found a one dollar bill. "Here. Don't spend it all in one place!"

"See, this is why you get kidnapped by villains a lot," Deadpool pointed out.

"That's never happened!" Jonah said. "There was the one time I was threatened and choked, but I never left my office."

"I wanna kidnap you already!"

"Oh, so you are looking to be a menace, just like your idol!" Jonah pointed out. "I knew it!"

"No, I'm a villain!" A beat. "Sometimes!"

"Right! Just like Spider-Man," Jonah pointed out.

"No, he's a hero. Heroes only wear black and weaponry when they're edgy and from a MAX label!"

"Yeah, sure, 'hero,'" Jonah said. "You're even parroting his lines about how he's not a criminal! Typical!"

"..." Deadpool poked him in the side. "If you're from that crappy ass Ultimate Universe, I'm so out of here."

"What are you even talking about?" Jonah asked. "And don't poke me."

"How can you know Spider-Man and yet not know Stark? Is there a Captain America there? Or maybe a Daredevil?"

"Are you a meth addict?" Jonah asked.

"...what?"

"You're dressed like a crazy person and you're making up all of these names," Jonah said. "Clearly you're hopped up on something, I'm just trying to figure out what."
