Library [09/18]

Sam yawned as he headed into the library and started opening the place up. He couldn't stand having his room be cluttered in his newly-moved-in state, so he'd stayed up late finding an organized place for everything. For now, he had coffee, but he was looking forward to the weekend, when he could just relax and sleep in.

The library was open for lunch, and Sam had cookies to share with Dean if he stopped by.

Dean wandered in with a bag of sandwiches. "So have you christened the new room yet?"

Sam glared at Dean. "No, we haven't" he said. "Peter and I only just started dating, Dean."

"So? It's not like you don't know each other really well."

"That doesn't mean we're going to start ripping each other's clothes off the first chance we get," Sam said. "We're going slow. People do that, it's okay."

"Hey if you want blue balls, no skin off my nose," Dean said tossing Sammy a sandwich.

"Can we please not talk about my sex life or lack thereof?" Sam asked, squirming uncomfortably.

"Sure," Dean said. "We could always talk about my sex life..."

"Or we could talk about something else," Sam said quickly. "Can we not talk about sex at all?"

Dean sighed theatrically. "Fine."

Sam sighed as well, rolling his eyes. "There has to be something else we can talk about. I just...I don't know what Peter's okay with me telling you. I don't know what I'm okay with telling you."

"Fine then. You pick the topic. But it better not be lame."

"How's your week been?" Sam asked. "You know, since I saw you last?"

"Probably better than yours since you haven't christened your room yet."

Sam rolled his eyes again. "We made out on my bed. Does that count?"

"It's a start."

"I'm not going to push him, Dean. I'm still making sure he wants to be with me like this."

"I'd say if he's making out on the bed with you that the answer's a big fat yes."

"Maybe," Sam said, smiling softly. "Or he could wake up tomorrow and realize he just wants to be my friend again, I don't know."

"Yeah, not likely."

"The point is, we're not serious yet. I mean, I don't think he wants to be serious yet. And I'm not going to christen anything unless it's serious," Sam replied.

Dean regarded Sammy for a moment. "So do you know he's not ready to be serious or are you just assuming? The same way you assume no one should want to be close to you?"ccc

It was amazing how interesting the desk looked, really. "We haven't been together that long. I think it's a fair assumption that he doesn't want to be serious. I mean, he was friends-with-benefits with Brooke for how long?"

"Yeah, but you're not Brooke," Dean pointed out helpfully.

"I know. I'm just trying not to expect too much," Sam said. "I don't want to do anything that's going to make me lose my best friend."
