Sex Ed, Wednesday, Period 2, Class #2

"Welcome back," Edward said when the students were seated. "Today we will be discussing the anatomy of the reproductive system. A few things first, though."

"We're dealing with some very personal subjects in this class. If you need to discuss something that you aren't comfortable bringing up in front of the other students, you can always talk to one of the teaching assistants." He turned his golden eyes to Marco and Joan. "Will you please stand up?" He turned back to the rest of the class. "Marco and Joan have volunteered to help us out. Please let them know if there's anything you need."

"In addition, Jennifer Sparks has informed me that she knows nearly everything there is to know about sex, so if you have any factual questions and I'm not available, I'm sure she'd be happy to help you out."

"And now, onto anatomy," Edward said. He nodded at the student nearest the door. "Will you please dim the lights?" The lights dim, he launched into a lecture on the reproductive system, using a number of slides to illustrate.

When he finished and the lights turned back on, he brought out five different plastic models of human reproductive systems.

"Now, let's see what you've learned. All the parts on these are numbered. On a sheet of paper, write down the numbers and the correct name of the part. I've only got five of these, so you'll have to work in groups. You are welcome to work together, but I want you each to turn in your own answers."

He then read off the group assignments and handed a plastic model to each group.

She was fairly sure it was a good thing he wasn't.

The look on Toby's face during the lecture said it all. Tilting his head to the side he winced as all the girl bits were described. Wow, that looked painful.

Molly took notes throughout the lecture and tried to pay close attention--with this place, she never knew when some anatomy would be completely new.

Chuck wasn't really paying attention. He knew all about anatomy. It was his best subject.

Oh Lord. Amber wasn't blushing, but damn near close. Besides, she kind of knew this stuff already. Kind of. She'd seen Liir naked, just not up close and personal. Oh. And Chuck. But Chuck's...thing had been hard and...

...she shouldn't be sitting here thinking these things. Comparing boys. What was wrong with her?

Casually, seemingly innocent, did she glance over at a certain someone (if he was there), and wondered about him. You know, since her mind was already there and everything.

Claire was oddly riveted to the lecture, with a kind of morbid fascination. Bodies were pretty gross when you thought about them.

Meg had gotten the Talk as well as all the appropriate supplement reading material when she was eleven.

This was old news.

She stared at the screen but she wasn't really seeing it. Instead she was somewhere in Vail, rushing down a slope.

See, Kaylee knew...well, some of this stuff in theory, and a lot of it in practice, but it had never really been broken down for her like this.

So she was taking detailed, albeit very misspelled, notes.

A hand rubbed a little at the back of Cal's neck, through the soft hair there, as he tried to understand exactly what it was he was thinking through all of this. It wasn't new information; darkened room and explanation of slides was all very familiar except for the one detail that the classroom lacked the distinct smell of topical creams and incense that invaded Dr. Luce's office.

Needless to say, Cal didn't take notes. He tried to avoid being there in anything other than bodily, especially since, quite frankly, the normal human reproductive system meant nothing to him, and the normal human anatomy was also quite inconsequential. He imagined even the humanoid aliens in the class (if there were any) had more normal human anatomy than he did.

Thank God the lights were out. And why the hell did Amber have to be in this class with him?
