Roving the Galaxy [period 04 - week 02]

"Good afternoon. The Doctor isn't able to be here today." There was a definite note of disapproval in her voice. "So I've stepped in to take your class. It appears as if you were going to be speaking with friendly aliens this week, and we'll continue with that. He didn't specify which aliens, so I've chosen ones that you will hopefully enjoy."

Harriet leaned against a convenient table. "The question of whether an alien is a friendly one or not can be difficult. Often those who seem to have the best interests of the planet at heart turn out, in fact, to value nothing but their own arrogance." She shook her head. "You don't have to worry about the ones you're going to meet today, though your conversations will be on their terms."

She waved them through a door and into a lush green forest. "Off you go, enjoy yourselves. I'll be here if you need me."

And talk to the aliens, who are intelligent but a little shy.

They are a foot tall ball of golden fur with huge eyes, and have a round head, big ears, a vaguely humanoid face with a little snub nose, and two two tiny hands with opposing thumbs.

They can only say yeek, but understand what you're saying and your body language.

It was with a wariness he wouldn't even admit to himself that Ender entered the forest. Somehow, he expected ghosts, or pointing fingers; the giant spines of a chest rising up above the foilage, or something else straight out of his dreams.

He went anyway, brushing away leaves and twigs as he slipped carefully into the forest.

A small golden head poked out of a bush and huge golden eyes stared at him. "Yeek?"

He'd been expecting it, but the sudden appearance did startle Ender just a little: of everything he might have expected, this had emphatically not been it. "Ho," he said, when the surprise had passed and he found himself fit to observe the alien in full.

Big gold eyes blinked, regarding him curiously, then with a quick dash, the fuzzy alien left the bush, peering up at him shyly. "Yeek," he said, imitating Ender's tone.

It took him a moment to decide on his next move, but soon Ender was hunching down slightly, quietly extending a finger towards the creature, squashing down on hints of paranoia that threatened to crawl up into his head.

He didn't want to be that person anymore, and so he tried.

Helen went cautiously into the wood, uncertain of what she might find.

If she glanced down, she'd find a small, golden haired alien looking up at her curiously from somewhere near her foot.

Helen crouched down slowly. "Hello," she said quietly.

"Yeek," he replied in the exact same tone, and reached up to try and pat her cheek.

She smiled and leaned in to let him.

Jamie wandered a bit looking for some friendly aliens. Hopefully of the non-skrull variety.

As he wandered, he might eventually see a small alien looking up at him with huge golden eyes.

"Well are you a cute little thing," Jamie said kneeling down. "You're not going to bit my face off are you?"

Sokka wandered off into the forest. Talking to friendly aliens, really! As if he didn't do that every day!

In the brush was a golden-colored creature, peering up curiously at Sokka as he wandered past.

Sokka just about died. "AWWWWW! Aren't you ADORABLE!!!" He got down on his knees for a closer look. "Hey there, little guy!"

The enthusiasm was a little scary at first, but he could tell the boy probably meant no harm, so he crept closer as well. "Yeek!" he said, matching Sokka's tone.

Cimroene went into the forest, careful to watch her step.

He appreciated that kind of care, to not end up stepped on as he peered carefully from behind a bush.

Cimorene carefully leaned down so she was more on eye level with the pair of eyes staring back at her. "Hello there."

He took a tentative crawl forward, trying to see if she was any kind of threat.

Sora looked around the forest not sure what to expect, but kind of looking forward to it at the same time.

A golden head popped out of a nearby bush, watching Sora as he went past. "Yeek?"
