Roving the Galaxy [period 04 - week 02]

"Good afternoon. The Doctor isn't able to be here today." There was a definite note of disapproval in her voice. "So I've stepped in to take your class. It appears as if you were going to be speaking with friendly aliens this week, and we'll continue with that. He didn't specify which aliens, so I've chosen ones that you will hopefully enjoy."

Harriet leaned against a convenient table. "The question of whether an alien is a friendly one or not can be difficult. Often those who seem to have the best interests of the planet at heart turn out, in fact, to value nothing but their own arrogance." She shook her head. "You don't have to worry about the ones you're going to meet today, though your conversations will be on their terms."

She waved them through a door and into a lush green forest. "Off you go, enjoy yourselves. I'll be here if you need me."

She sat as well and smiled. "It is a beautiful forest," she said. She hesitantly reached out, wondering if he would let her touch his face in return.

He absolutely would, holding very still as he watched her out of wide eyes.

Helen touched the side of his face with gentle and delicate fingers, lingering for a moment, then returning to her lap. "You are quite beautiful," she said softly.

He preened a little at the compliment, and said, "Yeek," quite modestly, before pointing to himself, then the forest which was his home, then to her, with a questioning tilt of his head.

"I come from another world," she said. "One nothing like this. We do not have beautiful forests. It is harsh, a land of torrential rain followed by blistering heat. Very unfriendly. But it is home and I miss it."
