Library [03/24]

Sam was on a bit of a sugar high this morning, in addition to being armed with his usual cup of coffee. Luckily, Dean was giving him space and alone time again, so only the books got to witness him being jittery as he set up for the day.

"That's totally a word," she argued wrongly. "I like the library."

Which she thought she'd established adequately the last time she'd been in there, but maybe not.

"And I like having you in the library," Sam said. He was pretty sure he'd established that too. "But when I leave for the day, I'm taking you with me, homework or not."

"Fine," she rolled her eyes at him, then plonked herself down sideways in one of the comfy chairs, beginning to read. "Be a big party pooper and make me eat and sleep in a bed, see if I care."

"Hey, keep talking like that and I might make you share some of my leftover candy too," Sam warned.

Oooh. "You have leftover candy?"

"From Easter, yeah," Sam said. "Amazingly enough, Dean didn't eat all of it."

"Wow," she said, very impressed. "What's your jellybean situation like?"

"I think I still have a good number of jellybeans," he said. "I didn't hit them as quickly as I did the chocolate."

"Yet another reason to love you beyond stupidity and into Buffy levels," Dawn grinned at him. "I like the jellybeans better. Except the black ones. You can keep those."

Sam grinned before making a face. "Black jellybeans should be consumed by no one. Which means I'll probably give them to Dean."

"Dean eats the--" she broke off and started giggling. "Never mind, of course he does."

"There's nothing Dean won't eat," Sam said. "I think the more disgusting it is, the better for him."

"Not true! He has yet to try my liverwurst and pickle sandwich," she countered. "The mustard is what makes it."

"Honestly? As gross as that sounds - no offense - I think he'd be willing to try it at least once."

"No, really gross was the peanut butter and bacon with it," Dawn told him cheerfully and without offense. "You think he would? Honestly? Because I can make him one..."

"I want to see his face when he tries to eat it," Sam said. "I think we've been hanging out together for too long, because peanut butter and bacon on its own? Doesn't sound so bad."

"I'll try and let you know ahead of time." Not that she was planning revenge for telling the radio listening audience that she and Sam had a library kink or anything. "I bet it'd be even better if you added apples, on like, multigrain bread."

"Yes to the multigrain bread, no to the apples. Unless they were on the side as a separate snack," Sam said.

"I could probably handle that," she decided, though she'd put the apples inside where they belonged. "Now if I just had somewhere to bring you lunch."

"You could have lunch with me and Dean if you come here next week," Sam said.

"Think he'd want his apples on the inside or the outside?"

"On the inside, of course," Sam said with a grin.

"Sure he won't mind if I crash? I know it's like, your boy Winchester bonding time and stuff."

"He won't mind," Sam said. "You're his friend too, and it's not like lunch is the only time we ever bond."

"Well, no," she fidgeted slightly, "but that doesn't necessarily mean you want a girlfriend all up in your guy time."
