Library [03/17]

After everything that happened last week, Sam wanted nothing more than for things to go back to being normal and quiet. He still felt a little tired, but that didn't stop him from heading to the library for his shift. If it weren't for the fact that Dean insisted on coming with him, this could have looked like any other Monday.

Sam made a noise of pleasant surprise before kissing Dawn back. "Hello to you too."

"Can't talk. Kissing you." She told him, in case he hadn't noticed. God, she'd been terrified.

"Mmmm, 'kay," Sam said, pulling her closer.

Dawn wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing herself more closely against him as she did, trying to absorb the warmth and reality of him being back. Here, with her.

At the moment, she still remembered where she was, but that could change at any second.

"Missed you so much," Sam murmured, before kissing her deeply, not really caring too much about where they were. This was tame compared to the kinds of things Dean watched sometimes.

"Me too," she said, clinging to Sam more than a little now, using his shoulders for leverage and pouring all her fear and love for him into kissing him. "Scared me."

"I'm sorry," Sam said quietly. "I never meant to worry you. We thought we'd be safe."

"It's not like you did it on purpose," she whispered, pulling away for breath and leaning her forehead against his shoulder. "I get it. Just...I thought you were gone for good."

"Never," Sam said. "I'd have found a way back. I wouldn't leave you behind, you or Dean."

"We weren't real big on you being lost either," she smiled briefly. "You're gonna get a lo-jack soon, at the rate you're going."

"Don't say that in front of my dad. He might be tempted to chip me," Sam said.

"Maybe I'll casually mention it to Principal Washburn instead," she said, only partly kidding. "I bet she'd chip all three of you. Plus Grace."

Actually, that sounded like a pretty good idea, now that she said it out loud that way, and Principal Washburn seemed like a very reasonable person who wouldn't want to lose Winchesters any more than she did. "It'd take a little work to make them inter-dimensional and impervious to magic, though."

She'd have to talk to Willow about that...

Sam could almost hear the gears turning in Dawn's head, and narrowed his eyes at her. "Whatever plan you're devising, you can stop, seriously."

"What?" She blinked innocently up at him and squeezed his arm, hoping to distract him.

"If I wake up with a magical chip somewhere in my body, I'm blaming you," he said.

She grinned. "I can deal with that."

"I really didn't mean to disappear," Sam said. "It won't happen again."

She gave him a squeeze. "It wasn't your fault, and don't make promises you can't keep. Just know that I'll always look for you, and that I expect you to make it back, okay?"

"We tried," Sam said. "Dad and I went straight to the library to do research. We tried to figure out how to get back."

"And you made it back." Dawn sighed. Boy, he was stubborn. "So, yay us, and we'll keep a better eye on each other from now on, right?"

"Between you and Dean, is there ever a time I'm not going to be watched?" Sam asked.

"You can probably get some alone time in the bathroom?" She suggested. "I'll be better in a week or so, I promise."

"Okay," Sam said, leaning in for another kiss. "I can handle a week."

"Just a week," she agreed, raising a hand to his cheek as she kissed him back.

Sam peeked over to make sure Dean was still at the desk before focusing on kissing Dawn, making up for the days he'd lost.
