Library [Sunday, January 27]

With a book and a bottle of water, Lee's back in the library, leaning back in his chair and looking about as comfortable as someone can look behind the library desk.

He's not really reading the book, more skimming for something to do to pass the time.

No, not where Adah would have taken it, but amusing all the same. She feigned a skeptical, disbelieving look. "At the same time?" she gasped, with a small inkling of a wish that part of her outrageousness at the possibility wasn't genuine.

Adah settled a look at the Eel. "Sometimes two things at once are difficult," she reminded him. "Especially for me, you know that. Besides, with your hands doing one thing and your mouth doing another, then you're energies are focused there, and your brain," depending on her hip against the desk, she reached over to poke at his forehead, "is probably doing nothing."

"Yeah," Adah muttered, her eyes on the Eel's hair line, where her fingers seemed to have thought the poke was an excuse to lead into lightly, idly playing with the short strands there. "I would hope so, you people with your fully working brains. If you didn't get use out of it, it would just be mean and unfair."

Adah grinned at the closeness, her fingers emboldening themselves to be less discreet about their intentions for running through the Eel's hair, like both their fingers had done in the grass when they first met. "Do you think," she asked lightly, "that they're often related, active brains and soft hair?"

"I think," Adah's grin sharpened, and her voice became very important-sounding, as if her opinion was clearly one which mattered well above all others, "that you got lucky in a lot of things."

"I think it's cute when you whine," Adah told him, her light grin taking a slightly sardonic twist. Cute in the ironic, amusing way that American children sat crying in shopping carts in the middle of a fully stocked, florescently lit grocery store about not having enough things.

"Maybe that's why it's cute," Adah explained. "Because it's just enough that it doesn't start getting annoying."

"Didn't we cover this last time?" Adah asked with a slight giggle, fingers and eyes still in the Eel's hair.

Adah nudged him back with the heel of her palm against his forehead and a grin. "Yeah, no kidding. Another reason you're lucky."

"Not very secret anymore, are they?" Adah observed idly as her hand dropped, out of the Eel's hair and down to his shoulder. She needed to use it for support, to assist her in leaning forward that remaining distance to get a kiss.

Adah grinned a little more as she let the kiss linger, pressing just a little bit more. Part of this was, she'd admit to only herself, a slight discombobulation of balance and the fact that pulling back presented itself to be harder than she originally thought it would be. She did, however, finally managed to get her body to cooperate enough to pull back and soft, with a small, exhaled breath, comment, "Look at that. You were right. You can be interesting after all."

"It helps," Adah responded, lightly returning the smile and curling her fingers against his shoulder. It assisted her in ignoring the pain of the desk in her hip. "I have to admit, I rather like kissing you, and people do tend to find what they like more interesting..."

"Well, you could," Adah said, quietly. Her cheeks were spreading with an uncomfortably warm blush, because, despite wanting to terribly, she couldn't exactly say anything about not being fond of the idea, all things considered. It just wouldn't be fair, and even went against her own, usually self-serving brand of morality. "But, as we've mentioned, you just have so many," her exaggerated roll of her eyes, the light shaking of her head, was just as much to create a teasing front as it was to try to drain the flush in her face, "charms that it really would be best to use them a variety of different ways for different concerned parties, I'd imagine."
