Driver's Ed [Wednesday, Period Four]

This week the Dangershop was set up with a comprehensive obstacle course, however rather than last week's Bentley, there was a boxy looking, lime green car at the start of the course. After all, even in simulations, Bond wasn't going to let anyone near a car like that without knowing they could handle it.

"Good afternoon, class," Bond began, leaning against the car door. "Today follows on somewhat from last week's class, allowing me to see your level of driving ability as you take the car around the course. Now, the thing to remember is that today I merely want to see how well you handle the car, it's not a race, you're not going to get points for flashiness, or have them taken away for crashing. Unless of course, you crash while attempting something smart. Please don't try that."

After demonstrating the proper way to take the course, Bond moved over to the passenger seat of the car.

"Now, who's first?"

[ooc: wait for OCD is up!]

Wow, that was one old, ugly coloured car. Shawn stared at it a moment, and tried not to imagine just how lumpy the ride would be in a thing like that.

Peter stared. He was pretty sure he could see the car with his eyes closed.

Sam wasn't as concerned about the color of the car as he was the size. It seemed a little small.

Lee much preferred the car from the previous week. A lot.

Oh, man. That looked like the kind of car Turtle's dad would drive home one day just to see what kind of reaction Grace would get. And it wouldn't be a good one, at all. But it would be hilarious.

Summer was definitely boggling. She liked the car from last week better.

Marco really, really wanted his BMV back. And the Jaguar.

Eh. It was serviceable, if ugly. Really ugly.

"Uso bakkari!" Dōjima muttered under her breath, looking at the car. "It's so ugly! Does it even move?"

Jenny was slightly horrified by the car. "Yes, but why?"

Jamie drove the car at a snail's pace, white-knuckling it the entire time.

He was veryn very slooooooooow.

You can never be too careful.

Sam thought short, tiny, small thoughts as he sat down and tried to fit in the driver's seat. Luckily, it didn't take long for him to get used to where the controls for everything were, so he didn't have too much trouble driving through the course. But it would have been a little easier in the Impala, he thought.

Well, hey, at least they knew the brakes worked. Because it seemed that Turtle was utilizing them, somewhat jerkily, every five feet.

This was at least significantly better than the other option, which would be imagining Grace at the end of the course, putting the petal to the metal and thwapping her good with the front end of the Volvo as she decried out the end of the world all because Turtle was getting behind a wheel of a car. That's it! Public transit for me! The roads won't be sa---*whack*--aaaafe!

Aravis got into the car, tapped the wheel, and said, "Go."

It should have worked.

When it didn't, she resorted to fumbling around on the floor, and when the thing on the right made it go, she happily pressed on that.

And then pressed on the thing on the left, because that was a bit too fast just yet, thank you.

Though going fast was awfully fun. So Aravis took the rest of the course in bursts of speed followed by slamming on the brakes.

Marco apparently had very little idea what the brake was for. And the turn signal.

Jack got in the car after a brief walk-around, making sure that the car had everything. Like all four tires. Or that it was really all there, and not just part of a car.

He looked at the floor and the shifter, trying to make sense of it all. "Automatic or manual?" he asked his professor, rather than trying to figure it out.

Okay, she could do this. She had passed her permit test in Japan, right? Right. Piece of cake.

Even if the stupid Americans had the wheel on the wrong side of the car.

"Eh, sensei? Which side of the road am I supposed to drive on, here?" Dōjima asked, slipping behind the wheel. "Right, yes?"

Jenny did pretty well on the course. For a given value of 'pretty well' that included taking turns just a smidge too fast and driving on the 'wrong' side of the road. She was English, the instructor was English, somehow it seemed proper.

Oh yes, really. Aravis was pleased and terribly approachable-looking, what with the crossed arms and sulky looks.

Bwhahahaha! When I was a wee lass, my family owned a Volvo just like that! Only it was pumpkin orange and not green...
