Driver's Ed [Wednesday, Period Four]

This week the Dangershop was set up with a comprehensive obstacle course, however rather than last week's Bentley, there was a boxy looking, lime green car at the start of the course. After all, even in simulations, Bond wasn't going to let anyone near a car like that without knowing they could handle it.

"Good afternoon, class," Bond began, leaning against the car door. "Today follows on somewhat from last week's class, allowing me to see your level of driving ability as you take the car around the course. Now, the thing to remember is that today I merely want to see how well you handle the car, it's not a race, you're not going to get points for flashiness, or have them taken away for crashing. Unless of course, you crash while attempting something smart. Please don't try that."

After demonstrating the proper way to take the course, Bond moved over to the passenger seat of the car.

"Now, who's first?"

Dawn, on the other hand, was kind of in love with the car. "It's so awesome!"

Sam looked back and forth between Dawn and the car a few times.

"Did you go color blind?"

She paused while Sam reconsidered what he knew about his girlfriend of more than a year, then said, "No, it's so bright and cheerful! Plus, you can always find it in the parking lot!"

"Oh, it's definitely got bright on its side," Sam said. "I think Dean would be horrified to know that I was even in the same room as this car."

"You could not tell him," was her whispered suggestion.

"I think I like that idea a lot," Sam replied.

"Do you think I could find one somewhere? For me, I mean? Maybe Dean would help me fix it up, if it's a clunker, then I could paint it whatever color I wanted."

In the back of her mind was the thought that she might want a way to get from college to, oh, say, Virginia over the next four years.

"I bet you could find one if you looked," Sam said. "And I have no doubt that Dean would be willing to help you fix it up if you want him to."

"Yeah? Really?" Now all she had to do was convince Buffy. Hmmm. "You really hate it?"

"It's small," Sam said. "The color can be changed, but the size can't."

And there went her dreams of driving a tiny car and parking it wherever she wanted. It would be good if Sam could fit inside her future car, too. She teased him, "How is it the car's fault that you're apparently not done growing, again?"

"It just is," Sam said, sulking. "Don't tell Dean I said this, but the Impala is better."

"I won't tell," she promised, hiding a smirk behind her hand.
