"Because, you're right," Adah said, with a stern face of conviction and a nod that didn't quite follow suit as well because her neck decided to tic. "It just works wonders. Good thing this tree is here, else I'd fall from swooning."

"I could show you my arms," he said and he knew that was ridiculous but he was having fun with the tease and wanted to see what she'd say.

She laughed. "Not even five minutes and you're already contradicting yourself. Showing my your arms would be....much...much...." She shook her head, dropping her eyes toward the topic of conversation, and her voice with it, "much too easy."

"But would it work?" he asked quietly, moving his arms when he knew she was watching.

Adah gave a careful, precise nod; a small one, not exactly wanting to disrupt her view, although she did allow it to drag her eyes from her vantage point to the Eel's face. "It would."

"It's cold out," he remarked with a nod. "My arms might get all cold and goosebumped."

"You're such a victim of the elements," Adah said, shaking her head lightly. "Always complaining that it's too cold. Well, if it's too cold, we'll just have to find a way to keep you warm."

"Will we now?" He grinned at that, leaned his head towards her and asked, "Any suggestions?"

"People stranded in the Himalayas," Adah said, very matter-of-factly, with a hint of suggestion in her voice, "depend on each other's body warmth to keep from getting hypothermia and freezing to death."

"Do they? Hmmm." He smiled at her, held out a hand palm up. "Think you'd like to help me keep warm?"

"I think I could," Adah said with a light nod and then, ruefully, she looked at the Eel's offered palm. Her fingers drummed a little against the spine of the notebook she was holding. A bit of a conundrum, since she could hold both.

Noticing the notebook, Lee said, "What if I just hugged you? You can hold the notebook and I can hold you."

Giving a small smile, Adah said, "I'm getting tired of this tree anyway."

"I'm a pretty good hugger," he said, moving to step in front of her so he could pull her into his arms, draping his arms loosely around her. "Too tight? Too loose? Good?"

Trying very hard to not grin too much, and failing fairly spectacularly with a light spread of pink across her cheeks, Adah leaned back against the Eel and got herself comfortable. Her head tilted slightly against him. "Too loose," she decided. "I'm not fragile, you know. I'm not going to break."

She hoped. Leave it to her body to be planning for a nerve seizure the moment he hugged her tighter, merely because she had said that.

"Okay," he said, tightening his grip around her with a quiet sigh. "You're not fragile. I'll remember that, I promise."

And the body, for once, seemed to behave. Adah let out her own soft sigh, relaxing against the Eel. "This is nice," she said, and then, with a grin, she pointed out the one fallacy, "except that you haven't taken off your shirt yet. Way to jump the gun."

"I like holding you more than I like taking off my shirt," he said and smiled. "But, you can feel my arms." He gave her a light squeeze just so she could, indeed, feel his arms.

Adah made a sound, slightly grumbling, in her throat, her expression twisting into something slightly doubtful, mostly thoughtful, considering the situation. "This is true," she allowed. "I certainly can...We could work with this, I think, but, as it stands, I believe you'll just...owe me shirtless arms, then. It's not all the same."

"I can take my shirt off," he said, grin turning into a blush. "You just have to keep me warm."

"That was the agreement, yes," Adah nodded with a grin of her own, not quite as blushingly.

With another smile, he pulled one arm away from her and used it to wriggle out of his shirt, immediately shivering when the cold hit him. "There we go. I just needed to be reminded."

"I'm really surprised I actually let it slip my mind," Adah admitted, taking a shameless moment to linger before allow herself to settle back into their previous position.

And also, she was surprised that he didn't just try to take her up on the offer later. It was good to know that she was either that influential or that he was that pliable, but, at the same time, there was a lot more it could lead to if he'd held it off for another time, another more private place.

Still, could she really complain? Really?

"I give such good hugs that the sensations my hugs produced overwhelmed you," he deadpanned before snickering.

"Yes," Adah deadpanned right back, "of course. That must be it. You go ahead and keep believing that."

In the meantime, she was just going to lean here and enjoy this.
