Library [Sunday, December 16]

With this planet's holidays fast approaching, Lee's doing something he probably should have done a long time ago: reading to see just what goes on during the various holidays. Of course, just seeing how many holidays were grouped in one month was enough to confuse him. And, after discovering one particular aspect of several of the different holidays, he's confused about something else: gift giving.

The library is open.

This afternoon, Adah decided that she wasn't going to bother with her usual attempts to try to slide into the library quietly and hope the Eel was distracted enough to not notice her or polite enough to pretend he didn't notice her. Instead, today, she felt like ambling, taking her time, as if intent to study everything with deep and philosophical consideration before, finally, her investigations brought her around to the desk. She was going to take her time, though. Hum hum. Oh, look. She never even noticed that crack on the ceiling before. Or maybe it wasn't a crack; could just be the light. Hmmm. Interesting. Fascinating, even, really...

Keeping her eyes trained elsewhere, Adah gave a slow shake of her head. There was a long pause before she commented, "No; nothing yet. I know there is something, though. There was something interesting on Wednesday here, so it's just a matter of finding it, I think. If it's still here."

"Well," Adah dropped her eyes and tilted her head for a moment, forehead frowning in deep consideration. She turned, and started to limp closer to the desk, the thoughtfulness still contorting her expression. "I suppose that all depends..."

Just as Adah, even in the pre-emptive pause before saying it, couldn't contain her own grin. She really shouldn't but it simply had to be said. She finally reached the desk, leaning against it lightly for support.

"On if you know where I might find the shirtless pirate section."

Adah's just just dropped, in the mockery of a gasp. "You couldn't have!" she commented, astonished. "I needed that section."

"How can you say that?" Adah argued lightly back. "I might have a very crucial report involving shirtless pirates. Is it really that far out of the realm of possibility, Mister I'm-Taking-A-Class-on-Modeling?"

"It's for..." Adah faltered a little bit as she tried to think of something. It was difficult, thinking of something with the classes she had. There was the chance to put emphasis on statistics for Mathematics, or a new pirate worshipping cult for Religion, but...

"An independent study."

At least that could be a fairly truthful answer.

"You'd be surprised," was all Adah allowed herself to reveal, a slightly devious curve to her crooked smile.

"I have a lot of work ahead of me, then," Adah reasoned airily. "Taping all those tiny pieces back together for the preservation of knowledge, and you. A shame to library aides everywhere, for such intention destruction of it. That's far worse than when I put all the books in the wrong spots for the hell of it."

Adah quirked an eyebrow at that. "Buried them?" she repeated, leaning forward with an accusing glint in her eye. "You mean like treasure?"

"How could paper stain a trash bag?" Adah asked, chuckling a little, and then she shook her head. "You know what? I'm sensing some resentment here, I think."
