Library [11/12]

Sam had enjoyed being at John and Aeryn's wedding over the weekend, but now that he was back and in school mode, he was thinking about his vision again, and what it might have meant. Luckily, he just so happened to have a whole library of books at his disposal today.

Oh look, Peter just so happened to come in during this period. He also happened to come in with two coffee cups and a small paper bag. He made a beeline for the counter so he could see Sam. "Hey."

"Hey," Sam said, as happy to see Peter as always. "Is one of those for me," he asked, pointing to the cups, "or are you doubling up on caffeine today?"

Peter passed Sam one hazelnut coffee. "One of these is for you. We'll see if you get any of the donuts though."

"What if I look really hungry?" Sam said, doing just that. He'd already had lunch, but that didn't mean there wasn't room for a donut.

"Very nice," Peter said. "I believe your motivation. You're really selling it in the eyes. But no."

"Why do you hate me enough to bring donuts in here to taunt me?" Sam asked.

Peter couldn't help it. He laughed, too amused by Sam to pretend otherwise. "I'm not taunting. I'm here to see if you kept up your part of the deal."

"I'm sure I did. Remind me again what my part of the deal was?" Sam said.

"To take good care of yourself after your vision?" Peter prompted.

"Oh," Sam said, getting more serious. "Yeah, I did. I went straight to Dean, and he gave me some painkillers and got me calmed down more."

"Feeling better?" Peter asked.

"Yeah. I haven't had another vision yet, so..." Sam trailed off, shrugging.

Peter held the bag out, letting Sam have his pick of jelly vs. chocolate glazed. "Any idea what the vision was about?"

Sam picked the chocolate donut and shook his head. "Not yet. I've been keeping an eye out for anything weird though. I'm just afraid I'm not going to know until whatever happens happens."

"Can I offer my help?" Peter asked. "Not to get in yours and Dean's way or anything. Just - if you need it, it's yours."

"I don't know how much you can directly help," Sam admitted. "But if you see anything strange going on, will you tell me?"

"Considering where we live, do you wanna narrow that down?"

Sam laughed quietly. "That might help, huh? If you see people gathering for something, maybe? Or if anyone's upset about something unusual? It's all still vague in my head."

"I can keep an eye out," Peter promised. "Think you can keep me in the loop if you get another vision?"

"I can, if you want. I always go to Dean first, 'cause I promised him that," Sam said. "But I can make sure to tell you too."

"Understood," Peter said. "There's some things Nathan gets first crack on."

"I figured you'd understand," Sam said. "I'm kind of glad you were there the other day. It was good to have a friend nearby when I snapped out of it."

"I was glad I could be there for you," Peter said. He smiled. "Glad I could be a friend."

"You're very good at it," Sam said.

"I've had practice," Peter replied.
