Library [10/15]

Sam was aware that there were no classes this week, but that wasn't about to stop him from opening the library. If nothing else, it gave him a day to work without having to worry about leaving for anything.

Sam was quietly reading something big and dusty-looking.

Sure there were no classes, but it wouldn't be a Monday without Peter stopping by in fourth period to say hi to his friend Sam.

Ronan smiled at Peter as he walked by, saying a soft, "Hello."

Peter gave a nod of greeting in return. "Hey."

"I don't know that we've properly met before," Ronan said, holding out his hand, "although I'm pretty sure I've seen you around. Ronan Nolan."

"Peter Petrelli," Peter replied, shaking hands in turn. Ronan's name rang a bell. "You and Parker, um - "

Peter tried to think of a polite way to say "hooked up at Homecoming" and it just was not coming.

"Met at Homecoming?" Ronan said, chuckling softly. Since it seemed that Peter already knew, that seemed the most discreet way to put it. "Yes, we did. Are you a friend of hers, then?"

"Friend of a friend," Peter said. "You know Isabel Evans?"

Ronan nodded. "Yeah, definitely. In fact, I met Parker because of Isabel -- I'd done some glitter-work on Isabel's dress, and Parker wanted me to do the same for hers."

"So that's where that came from," Peter said. "Isabel and I - " and again with awkward conversation " - uh, kept each other company. For the dance. The glitter was one of the things that I noticed."

"Yeah, that was me," Ronan replied, grinning. "I appear to be making a habit of making things glittery -- cabins, dresses, exploding cupcakes... I do skin, too. It's not a difficult wizardry."

Sam would have noticed Peter ~~and his flirting omg~~ if he wasn't so engrossed in what he was reading.

Peter didn't want to interrupt Sam, but he figured a hi couldn't hurt. He cleared his throat to see if Sam noticed.

The noise finally broke Sam's attention enough for him to look up. "Oh. Hey," he said. "Sorry, I was kind of far and away there. What's up?"

"Just stopped by to say hi," Peter said. He grinned. "Don't we not have school today? Shouldn't you be anywhere but here?"

"I don't have to be here, but I don't have anywhere better to be, so..." Sam trailed off, laughing. "I figured the library should be open, on the off-chance that someone wants to study something for midterms."

"Someplace else I should take you," Peter said. "New York Public Library. The one in the city. Big lions out front, fashion week in the back."

"That would be awesome," Sam said, trying to imagine that place. "Has anyone ever told you you're kind of strangely obsessed with fashion?"

"I'm not obsessed," Peter said, mock-offended. "It's just fun."

"I'm glad you have something like that that you think is fun."

Having finished his reread of the first few Adolescent Magicians books, Ronan came by the library to drop them off and pick up the next few.

"Hey!" Sam said when he looked up and spotted Ronan. "How's it going?"

"Pretty well," Ronan said, smiling. He held up the books he had in hand. "Just bringing some books back, looking to grab the next ones in the series."

"Ah, okay. Do you need any help with anything?" Sam offered.

"Well, actually," Ronan said, "you wouldn't happen to have any other recommendations, would you? For young adult fantasy stuff. I've been rereading these ones pretty heavily, I figure it's probably time for something new."
