Library [10/15]

Sam was aware that there were no classes this week, but that wasn't about to stop him from opening the library. If nothing else, it gave him a day to work without having to worry about leaving for anything.

Sam would have noticed Peter ~~and his flirting omg~~ if he wasn't so engrossed in what he was reading.

Peter didn't want to interrupt Sam, but he figured a hi couldn't hurt. He cleared his throat to see if Sam noticed.

The noise finally broke Sam's attention enough for him to look up. "Oh. Hey," he said. "Sorry, I was kind of far and away there. What's up?"

"Just stopped by to say hi," Peter said. He grinned. "Don't we not have school today? Shouldn't you be anywhere but here?"

"I don't have to be here, but I don't have anywhere better to be, so..." Sam trailed off, laughing. "I figured the library should be open, on the off-chance that someone wants to study something for midterms."

"Someplace else I should take you," Peter said. "New York Public Library. The one in the city. Big lions out front, fashion week in the back."

"That would be awesome," Sam said, trying to imagine that place. "Has anyone ever told you you're kind of strangely obsessed with fashion?"

"I'm not obsessed," Peter said, mock-offended. "It's just fun."

"I'm glad you have something like that that you think is fun."

"I don't make fun of your thing for libraries," Peter pointed out.

That got Sam to stop laughing, at least. "Okay, good point. I guess that could be easily mockable to some."

"Eh, at least you're not a nag like Nathan," Peter said. "Long as you're not getting on my case to study more often than I have to, we're good."

"The only person I bug about studying more is Dean, and that's because it's my right as the smarter brother," Sam said. "I wouldn't nag you. If you wanted help studying, I certainly wouldn't say no. But that would require us to take similar classes."

"Maybe next semester," Peter said. "Though I suppose I could always ask you for tips on suriving your dad's class."

"It shouldn't be too hard for you to survive, since you're not me or Dean. Just don't act stupid, and you'll be fine."

"Your dad gives you a hard time for being stupid?" Peter asked, looking concerned.

"Well, yeah. If I screw up, and don't do something right," Sam replied.

"That something he thinks happens often?" Peter asked, keeping his voice neutral.

Sam shrugged, trying to keep himself neutral too. "Not all the time, but more than it happens with Dean."

"My dad always got along better with Nathan too," Peter said. He shrugged it off, like it was no big deal. "Nathan joined the Navy, Nathan became the lawyer. I wanted to be a nurse. You can imagine how much he loved the idea of that."

"Probably about as much as my dad liked the idea of me wanting to play soccer instead of learning how to bow hunt," Sam said.

"How did I not know that you like playing soccer?" Peter asked.

"I don't know. I guess it just never came up," Sam said.

"You're gonna have to show me sometime," Peter said. "Otherwise I am just not going to believe you. All hunt, no game."

Sam gave Peter an amused look. "Is that a challenge?"
