"Horses are easier," he muttered, but he followed her instructions until it was organised, then shut the window down with a sigh of relief. "There, is is done."

"Done," Molly repeated before turning to look at him. "You will be safe, right?"

"I will be in the Palace at Haven, surrounded by Heralds and the Royal Guard," he said reassuringly. "And mages, and the gryphons and the Companions." It wasn't precisely a yes, because he knew nothing was certain. "And Altra as well."

Molly put her hand on his cheek. "I guess it'll have to do," she said with a smirk.

He smiled as he tipped his head, pressing his cheek against her palm. "If I am delayed, I will try and get a message to you."

Molly smiled back. "I know you will," she said and leaned over to give him a kiss.

Karal kissed her back, turning his hand to wrap his fingers around hers.

There was no one else in the library and, for just this once, he was not going to concern himself with where they were.

If Karal wasn't concerned about it, Molly wasn't going to be either. She slid her other hand into his hair and deepened the kiss.

Karal leaned closer and slipped one hand around to rest between her shoulder blades, smiling as they kissed.

Molly leaned against him and hummed a little in the back of her throat.

Karal slowly began to pull away, brushing her hair back. "This is a very good first day at the library," he said softly.

Molly grinned up at him. "So you wouldn't mind if I came to visit you when you work every week?"

"I would like that very much," he replied. "If you'd like, you could have lunch with me? The library is closed, but I could let you in."

"That would be fun!" she said, grinning more. "I'd like that a lot."

"So would I." he moved back, but kept hold of her hand. "Would you walk me to the causeway tomorrow?"

Molly nodded. "Of course I will."

"Thank you. I imagine Altra is going to be less than complimentary about taking a portal, but it will be much better than being left with Jump Sickness!"

"Yes," Molly agreed. "Especially when you've been getting sicker every time."

He touched his stomach in involuntary memory. "Altra believes it is because the Mage Storms are getting worse. They are making it harder for him to Jump between worlds."

"And you're going back to try and help fix that, right?"

He lifted one shoulder. "If I am able."

"Will it be all work when you're there?" Molly asked, a little unsure to touch on this subject. "Do you have any friends there?"

"I do not know, Molly." He looked down at their hands. "I did have some friends in Valdemar, Natoli and An'desha, but I am not permitted to tell anyone I am here, so they likely think I have just been avoiding them."

Molly tightened her hold on his hand slightly and hugged him with her other arm. "I'm sorry, my Karal. I wish you could tell them. I wish I could go with you. You will have to make Altra let you hug him."

"You can tell him that," Karal said lightly, leaning into her. "And it does not matter. Florian knows, I can go and spend time in Companion's Field with him until it is time to return."
