Now that the sinkhole's been filled in and smoothed over, there's some cement-work to be done pretty much right on top of it. Not that Xander looks like he's getting Sunnydale flashbacks about that; the thoughtful frown is entirely unrelated. Really.

"The truck did the big parts of it," he says, "But there's paths for a sidewalk laid out that you guys can pour." He points to a small cement mixer, in fact the one that was used to make sure those pesky stones remain in place beneath their feet.

And then there's a safety lecture. You knew there would be.

Bel stretched out on one of the benches, hoping lunch would arrive soon via Anders- or Phoebe-Express.

Phoebe figured that Cole wouldn't frown at her for leaving the rooms when she was bringing him food stuffs.

Even with his eyes closed Cole sensed Phoebe approaching. He listened to her footfalls and turned his head and opened his eyes, watching her walk. "How are you feeling, sweetheart?" he said.

She smiled at him. "I'm alright... and I figured after lunch I'd go have James check me over so you can feel better."

"Good," Cole said, nodding. "If he yells at me for not bringing you to the clinic it's all your fault." He made a face at her.

She stroked his cheek gently. "No, he won't yell at you. He knows that I don't like Dr. Troy for far too many reasons."

"And I don't want him touching you," Cole growled, reaching up and possessively pulling Phoebe down on top of him. Carefully, of course, to make sure he didn't hurt her leg.

She really kind of liked it when he got possessive.

She leaned into him. "I don't want him to, either."

Cole wrapped his arms around Phoebe. "I left a mark for us on the school," he said.

Cole sat up and took her hand, leading her to the out of the way area to show her what he'd done. It was small and very inobvious to the casual passer-by; you had to know what you were looking for to see it.

Anders not at all following his player's example had installed Zuma Deluxe on his laptop, and after his Spying class he'd gotten a little too caught up in playing, so he showed up a little later.

He was looking sheepish, but bearing dessert. Namely, strawberry shortcake parfaits.

Bel glanced at Anders. "You're late," he remarked. "Wanna make boy-thing prints inna cement?"

"I, uh." He laughed sheepishly. "Got sucked into playing this computer game after my workshop and it was right about lunchtime when I finally stopped. Mwahahaha totally."

Bel gave him a pitiful look. "I was so hungry!" he said. He may have tried to hide any leftover food that Phoebe had brought him.

Anders so obviously didn't believe him. "Uh huh. You so look like a poor starving demon. Notice how I have no lunch, just dessert?"

Anders countered with a wide-eyed, mock-hurt look of his own. "Would I go off and have lunch, and not make sure you were going to be fed?"

"Oh, give me some credit here," Anders said, holding up the strawberry shortcake parfaits as if displaying them. "Would I bring you dessert if I didn't already know you'd had lunch?"

"Dork." Anders rolled his eyes. "Like Phoebe would ever do that. You know, you keep that up and I'll eat all of this myself."
